In the continuing trend of the NBA pitting the same clubs against one another in back-to-back matches, the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks will duke it out on the hardwood floor again on Saturday in Atlanta. The Eastern Conference foes met on Thursday in a contest that saw Toronto claim only its second road victory of the season, 122-119.

Our NBA odds believe the host Hawks will bounce back and have thus pugged them as -3.5 favourites.

Raptors vs. Hawks NBA Betting Odds

Interestingly enough, it’s been some time since one of these clubs has defended home court. The three most recent meetings, including Thursday’s, have all been claimed by the visitors. Jan. 28,  2024 was the last time a home team won and it happened to be the Hawks.

Toronto is much healthier than it was earlier in the season, but they still have players nursing wounds. Ochai Agbaji (hand) is out for Saturday’s match, as is Immanuel Quickley (hip) and Kelly Olynyk (calf). As for betting, although it hasn’t been a good idea to believe in the Raptors on the moneyline this season given the 12-32 straight-up tally, that 25-18-1 ATS record looks much more promising. To that effect, Toronto has covered four of its lats five spreads.

Perhaps the biggest injury story heading into this contest is Trae Young’s day-to-day status. He’s dealing with a hamstring issue. Clint Capela (knee) has joined him in the day-to-day camp. The Hawks find themselves in an Eastern Conference playoff seeding logjam. They’re currently 22-22 and in eighth place. With a bit of luck, they could be as high as fifth. Conversely, if this three-game slide is extended, they could be 10th. Betters might not be impressed by the 18-26-0 ATS record either.

Toronto Raptors

It’s quite astonishing to think that the Raptors’ away record is superior to only that of the Washington Wizards (1-19). Even the Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans – two clubs having terrible campaigns – are better away from home (4-16 and 4-17). As such, Thursday’s 122-119 win was a pleasant surprise.

Or perhaps it wasn’t. Over a two-week span, Toronto has downed the Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, and now Atlanta. As bad as things have been this season, the past fortnight as actually been rather decent. Offensively speaking, they shot the lights out, hitting 58 per cent of their attempts overall and mustering a solid 42.9 per cent from beyond the arc. Things got hairy in the fourth quarter as Atlanta stormed back from a double-digit deficit (17 points at one stage), but the Raps found a way to hold on.

Scottie Barnes led the charge with 25 points, six boards, and three helpers. The bench was huge, with Olynyk netting 11, Bruce Brown 18, and Chris Boucher registering 17.

Atlanta Hawks

Different year, same Hawks. It’s been years now that Atlanta as sported a better than average attack and a woeful defence. 2024-25 is no different, as the Hawks put up 116.8 points per game (seventh-best) but cough up 119.0 (28th).

In fact, the defending is so bad it can make an awful road team like Toronto look competent. There wasn’t a single quarter on Thursday night in which their opponents scored fewer than 28 points.

Dyson Daniels continues to be a phenom in the steals category. He took away the ball four times on Thursday, which not only is an impressive figure but is even high than his season average of 3.0. By the by, that’s number one in the NBA. Moreover, Young averages the most assists in the league with an incredible 11.7 – he had 13 on Thursday. Despite having two players at the very top of the heap in two important categories, Atlanta is, by and large, an easily overlooked squad.
