Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers Prediction, NBA Odds
It’s the second of a back-to-back for Toronto on Saturday night as it visits the 76ers, who are still led by ex-Raptors coach Nick Nurse. Philadelphia is a 5.5-point favourite on the NBA odds with a total of 236.5.
Raptors vs. 76ers NBA Betting Odds
Former Raptors coach Nick Nurse was among the betting favourites to be the first NBA coach fired when this season opened, but Philly looks as good as it was expected to be last season when the team imploded largely due to injury. At full strength, there is no doubt this club can win the Eastern Conference, and it is a +800 third-favourite to do so.
But the key as always for the Sixers is health. Former MVP Joel Embiid has not sniffed 30 minutes in a game yet and might not for weeks. He will likely never play both ends of a back-to-back again. Nine-time All-Star Paul George hasn’t yet made his season debut while recovering from arthroscopic left knee surgery he underwent in July, but George is getting close. One bright spot last season was rookie guard Jared McCain. That campaign was cut short due to a torn meniscus in his left knee and then McCain got hurt again in September. But he made his season debut on Tuesday. So the Sixers are coming.
Toronto swept all four games vs. Philadelphia last season … after the Sixers swept four the season before. Scottie Barnes led the Raptors in the 2024-25 campaign vs. Philly by averaging 23.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in three games. Embiid and George each just played in one game last season for the 76ers in the series. All-Star Tyrese Maxey in two and averaged only 14.5 PPG.
The over has hit in seven of the past 10 meetings overall.
Toronto Raptors
Well, we are a bit handicapped here in terms of capping because the Raptors played Friday, winning 109-97 in Atlanta (NBA Cup game), but obviously it’s possible a few key guys don’t play in the second of a back-to-back. NBA clubs are not required to list injury reports early if they played the night before. But the Dinos got over .500 for the first time this season with Friday’s win. They held Atlanta to 5-of-25 shooting in the fourth quarter in rallying from down 13 in the third. Toronto has three players averaging at least 20 points in Brandon Ingram (21.0), RJ Barret (20.6) and Scottie Barnes (20.1). Denver is the only other team with three 20-point scorers (one of whom is Canadian Jamal Muray). Toronto is 4-1 ATS in its past five.
Philadelphia 76ers
There is no team in the NBA that you need to wait on lineups more on than the 76ers and that usually involves centre and former MVP Joel Embiid. When he’s right, Embiid is a Top 5 player in the league and maybe higher. He’s just rarely right these days. But he should play tonight as this is not part of a back-to-back. The only key Sixers player on the injury report is Paul George, but he is yet to play this season due an elbow issue. PG13 isn’t that good these days, anyways. The 76ers have an NBA-best five players averaging 17.0 or more points per game this season. VJ Edgecombe (17.6 PPG) was the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft and among the Rookie of the Year favourites at +120. Both Philadelphia (second at 123.3 PPG) and Toronto (10th at 119.2 PPG) rank in the top 10 in the NBA in scoring. Philly is 5-1 ATS in its past six. Just an awful spot for the Dinos.
