Pistons vs. Nets Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread
It’s been a tough season for Detroit as they sit dead last in the Eastern Conference. Things won’t get any easier when they head to Brooklyn on Saturday to face the Nets.
The Nets are huge 11-point favourites to win on the NBA odds with a total of 228.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Believe it or not, as bad as this Detroit team is, they’re even worse on the road. The Pistons have only won four of 21 road games this season, hitting the Over in 12 of them. Detroit is 18-16-3 against the spread overall. The Pistons have lost 14 of their last 19 games in Brooklyn.
The Nets keeps rolling and enter this game with 11 wins in their last 12 games. Brooklyn is 21-17 ATS this season, covering in 11 of 20 home games and nine of their last 10 games overall. The total has gone Over in four of the last six games between these teams.
Detroit Pistons
Based on where these teams currently are in the standings, it’s a little surprising to see that Detroit pulled out a 122-111 win over Brooklyn, last month. Ironically, it was one of Blake Griffin’s last games with the Pistons before signing in Brooklyn. That win was one of the only highlights in Detroit’s season and they come into Brooklyn on a two-game losing streak.
With trade rumours circling, Jerami Grant has been the lone bright spot in Detroit’s lineup. After missing three of the last five games before the All-Star break with a bruised quad, Grant returned in the Piston’s 105-102 loss to Charlotte on Thursday. He finished with 32 points and eight rebounds against the Hornets and leads the team in average points per game (23.7) and blocks (1.1). Grant also had a 32-point performance in the last game against the Nets, but it could be an uphill battle on Saturday.
Brooklyn Nets
Brooklyn stormed back from the All-Star break with a 121-109 win over Boston on Thursday. In the continued absence of Kevin Durant, it was Kyrie Irving who led the Nets’ No. 1 ranked offence as he dropped 40 points and eight rebounds against the Celtics. Durant continues to miss time with a hamstring injury and won’t play on Saturday. Irving has been having a career year and is averaging 27.7 points per game on 51 per cent shooting from the field to go along with 4.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
Not to be outdone, James Harden has made it impossible not to notice him on the court. Harden just missed out on a triple-double against the Celtics, finishing the game with 22 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and currently averages a league-best 11 assists per game.
The newest Net is pretty familiar with the Pistons, as Detroit recently bought out former six-time All-Star Blake Griffin’s contract. Unfortunately for fans, Griffin has yet to make his Brooklyn debut and has been ruled out against his former team on Saturday.
