Knocking off the Golden State Warriors was going to be a tall task with or without Stephen Curry but the job gets even more difficult in Game 2 for the plucky Pelicans with the two-time MVP set to return from a long absence.

The Warriors improved to 5-1 straight up and 4-2 against the spread since the start of the playoffs after walloping the Pelicans by 22 points in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal. Golden State is now 25-2 SU in its last 27 matchups against New Orleans.
The Dubs are 14-0 SU in their last 14 home postseason games but just 3-5 ATS in their last eight playoff games as double-digit favourites.
Game 1 saw New Orleans loss and fail to cover the spread for the first time in these playoffs. The Pelicans are one of the league’s best away bets with a 28-16 ATS mark on the road, but they’re just 15-14 ATS as road underdogs.
The over is 7-3 in the Pelicans’ last 10 games overall and 8-2 in the last ten meetings between the Pels and Dubs.
Nearly 70 percent of Sports Interaction customers are backing the Warriors to cover as 11-point chalk in Game 2 while 64 percent expect the game to go over the 226.5-point total.
Golden State moved to -10,000 favourites to win the series against New Orleans after winning Game 1 and with Curry entering the fold. The Pelicans are paying +1250 to win the series on the Sports Interaction NBA futures board.
New Orleans Pelicans
New Orleans knows it must improve defensively to get back in this series. The players spoke specifically about their inability to stop the Warriors during the second quarter when they were outscored 41-22. Golden State’s 76-point outburst in the first half of Game 1 set a franchise record for most points in a half.
Anthony Davis will have to be a more efficient scorer than he was in Game 1 (21 points on 20 shots) and he’ll have to make life more difficult for Draymond Green. The Warriors do-it-all forward notched his fourth career playoff triple double in Game 1.
Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry is probable to play in Game 2 and end a 16-game absence because of a sprained MCL he suffered back in March. The Warriors don’t need Curry to produce huge numbers in his first game back. His presence alone will make things easier for his teammates because of his pin-point shooting accuracy.
