Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks Prediction, NBA Odds

New York has stumbled lately, dropping six of their last seven games, including a 127-123 overtime loss at home against the Thunder on Monday.  Brooklyn has been even worse, with their 109-85 home win on Monday snapping an 11-game losing streak.

The Knicks are 3.5-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 217.0.

Nets vs. Knicks NBA Betting Odds

This is the second meeting between these teams this year following the Nets’ 112-110 win in Brooklyn on Nov. 30.  James Harden led all scorers with 34 points, while Kevin Durant added 27.  Neither play will be in the lineup on Wednesday as Harden was shipped to Philadelphia for Ben Simmons and Durant is dealing with a knee injury.

Even with Kyrie Irving eligible to play road games (he won’t be eligible here as the game is still in New York), the Nets have managed to drop their last eight games away from home.  They’re 21-34-2 against the spread overall and have managed to cover in just three of their last 12 games.  The total has gone Over in four of Brooklyn’s last five games.

Things haven’t been going much better for the Knicks, as they’ve only been able to string together two wins over their last 11 games.  They’re 26-32 ATS overall and have failed to cover in six of their last seven games.  The total has gone Over in five of New York’s last seven games overall.

Brooklyn Nets

Seth Curry led the way in his Brooklyn debut on Monday, dropping a team-high 23 points to help the Nets win for the first time since Jan. 21.  LaMarcus Aldridge added 19 points and Bruce Brown Jr. set season highs with 19 points, six assists and five steals.  Two of the three players acquired in the Simmons trade, Curry and Andre Drummond (11 points, nine rebounds), started for Brooklyn.  There’s no timeline for Simmons’ debut.  The former Sixers star hasn’t played since last May and still needs to get his conditioning back to game shape.

Durant is also without a timetable to return.  He hasn’t played since leaving a Jan. 15 game early against New Orleans with a sprained MCL.  Durant is obviously a massive part of this team and his 29.3 ppg average ties him with Joel Embiid for second-best in the NBA.

New York Knicks

Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson both had chances to beat the Thunder in regulation, but couldn’t sink their shots, leading to an overtime loss.  Randle finished the game with a triple-double of 30 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.  Robinson added 14 points and a game-high 17 boards, while Evan Fournier had 29 points.  The Knicks led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter before blowing the lead and sending the game to overtime.  Randle is averaging team-highs in points (19.6), rebounds (10.2) and assists (5.2).  He is the seventh player in franchise history to record 28 points in six consecutive games.

Canadian RJ Barrett will miss his third straight game on Wednesday as he rehabs an ankle injury.  The third overall pick in the 2019 draft, Barrett is second on the Knicks with 18.0 ppg.  Nerlens Noel will miss his fifth straight game with a foot injury.
