Nets vs. Clippers Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread
It’s a potential NBA Finals preview when the Brooklyn Nets head to L.A. for a meeting with the Clippers on Sunday.
The Clippers are 5.5-point favourites to win on the NBA odds with a total of 240.0.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Brooklyn has recently been paying off bettors. The Nets have covered the spread in five straight games and are 15-16 against the spread overall this season. With a lack of defence and a high-scoring offence, the Nets have also put up points all season long. Brooklyn has hit the Over in 22 of 31 games overall, including an identical 11 times at home and 11 times on the road.
The Clippers have been just as comfortable covering, recently. L.A. has covered in four of their last five games and they are 18-13 ATS overall. Kawhi Leonard has helped his team cover eight times at home and 10 times on the road.
Brooklyn Nets
After taking down the Lakers 109-98 on Thursday, the Nets will be looking for a sweep in their two game Los Angeles series on Sunday against the Clippers. James Harden led the way against the Lakers with 23 points, five rebounds and 11 assists. Harden averages 27.7 points per game (third on Brooklyn), 8.2 rebounds (second) and 11.7 assists (leads the team). The recent acquisition from Houston carried the Nets back from a 24-point deficit against Phoenix on Tuesday and hit a game-changing three-pointer with less than 30 seconds to play. A lot has been made of Harden’s trade from Houston, but since the move, Harden is averaging 24.2 points per game and a career-high 11.7 assists as well as a personal best 50 per cent field-goal shooting.
Brooklyn seems to be striking fear into the Eastern Conference and they are intimidating other teams with their big three of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Harden. It’s unclear if Durant will make it back in time against the Clippers, but Jeff Green, Tyler Johnson, Landry Shamet and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot have been instilling fear in every team they face.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers have won five of their last six games and come into Sunday’s action off a 116-112 win over the Utah Jazz on Friday. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 29 points, while Lou Williams dropped 19 points and Patrick Beveryley and Marcus Morris Sr. (Morris checked in off the bench) each finished with 17 points. It was actually Leonard’s first game since a three game absence due to a leg contusion. Leonard leads the team in average points per game (26.8) and steals (1.7). The former Raptor is shooting at a 55.5 per cent efficiency rating.
