The Lakers enter their matchup with Sacramento as 4.5-point underdogs despite facing a Kings team that has won just once in its previous 11 games. The reasoning? James will not be in the Los Angeles lineup, with the Lakers opting to give their future Hall of Fame forward a much-needed breather against a weaker opponent.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sacramento being favoured against the Lakers isn’t a completely new phenomenon. The Kings have actually been the favourite three times since 2017, though they’re just 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS in those games. And despite the Lakers being without both James and fellow frontcourt stud Anthony Davis, only 55 percent of Sports Interaction respondents are siding with the home team (likely due to that lengthy stretch of losses referenced in the lead).

The total for Wednesday’s meeting is set at 225.5, with the Over and Under at an identical -110. And the Sports Interaction crowd is much more in unison with this pick, with 78 percent leaning toward the O225.5. It will be interesting to see how the Los Angeles defence looks with both Davis and James out of the lineup; the teams have averaged an incredible 250 points in their previous two meetings, though they haven’t yet squared off this season.

Los Angeles Lakers

Who’s going to score for a Lakers roster missing two players that average 43.5 percent of the team’s total points? Look for point guard Dennis Schroder and power forwards Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma to provide the bulk of the offence. If you’re interested in player props, the one to monitor here is Schroder, who should see plenty of opportunities against a Kings defence that allows the fourth-most points per game to opposing point guards.

Sacramento Kings

After an incredibly rough stretch, the Kings finally catch a break; the question is, can they capitalize? The biggest edge in their favour might just be their balanced scoring, with six players averaging at least 13 points (though they’ll be without super rookie Tyrese Haliburton, who’s out with a calf injury). The Lakers are a top-5 defence vs. three different positions, but with James and Davis sidelined, they’re going to have a much tougher time containing the Kings.
