One night after an emotional celebration of former NBA legend Kobe Bryant, the Lakers head north to face the Sacramento Kings.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Purple and Gold gave up 78 points to Damian Lillard and Hassan Whiteside on Friday night at the Staples Center. It led to a 127-119 result in favour of the visitors. The Lakers dropped to 3-4 straight up in their last seven games and 1-4 against the spread in their last five.

They’re now just 3.5 games up on the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers for first in the Western Conference. There is good news for Laker backers. The club is 5-1 against the number when playing on the second night of a back-to-back set and it possesses a league-high 20 away wins this season.

Sacramento comes into Saturday’s in-state clash having taken down the Clippers on Thursday night 124-103 as a 14-point underdog. A moneyline bet on the Kings would have paid around +900 odds. That means a $100 bet would have paid $900 for underdog players.

Over is the most pronounced trend involving Sac-Town these days. The Kings have played Over the total in nine of their last 10 games. The head-to-head series tells a different story though. The Under is 5-2-1 in the last seven meetings between these two Pacific Division foes.

The Lakers are 7-3 SU and ATS in the last 10 matchups against the Kings. Sacramento is 0-3-1 in its last four home games and 0-4-1 in its last five games getting points at home.

Los Angeles Lakers

Anthony Davis was the offensive star for the Lakers on Friday night. He tallied 37 points on just 22 shot attempts and added 15 rebounds and 6 assists to his stat sheet for good measure.

His defence wasn’t quite as good. Hassan Whiteside went 3-for-3 from the field with Davis guarding him. Davis – along with the rest of the Lakers – had no answer for Whiteside in the paint. This shouldn’t be a problem for the Lakers would play with a traditional center – either JaVale McGee or Dwight Howard – next to Davis.

Sacramento Kings

De’Aaron Fox is coming off a career-best, 34-point performance on Thursday against the Clippers. He finished the month of January with averages of 22.8 points and 7.6 assists per game. That’s the type of production Sacramento needs from its franchise point guard.

The Kings seem to be making out well with Buddy Hield coming off the bench. The regular starter as the shooting guard was moved the reserve group to make way for Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Hield single-handedly brought the Kings back from the dead earlier this week against the Timberwolves in a game Sacramento won outright despite trailing by 17 points with less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter.
