Lakers vs. Clippers Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread
The Lakers are still without forwards LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and are in danger of missing out on home-court advantage at any point in the Western Conference playoffs. The Clippers, meanwhile, are looking to rebound having lost two straight.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
No James? No Davis? No chance for the Lakers according to oddsmakers, who are giving the Lakers the most points they’ve received all season. The Lakers are just 2-6 ATS in their past eight games overall and failed to cover the last time they received 10+ points, dropping a 111-94 decision to Phoenix at +10.5 back on March 21. The Clippers, on the other hand, are 6-2 ATS in their last eight; they’re 4-4 ATS this season as a favourite of 10 or more points.
Just over 60 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are taking the home team despite the huge spread, while two-thirds are on the O215 at -110. These teams have been strong Under plays in recent meetings, having gone 1-4 O/U in their last five encounters. The Lakers have converted the Under five straight times, with only one of those games producing 210 or more points. The defending champs are one of the top Under plays in the league at 17-31-1 O/U.
Los Angeles Lakers
Not only are the Lakers careening down the Western Conference standings – they’re also dealing with some dissention in the ranks. Center Marc Gasol has expressed frustration at the team’s decision to sign fellow big man Andre Drummond, a move that has severely limited Gasol’s playing time. Gasol averaged roughly 20 minutes as the starter prior to Drummond’s arrival, and while he came on the bench last time out, he still saw 28 minutes of action.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers will finally show off one of their trade deadline acquisitions in Sunday’s showdown with the rival Lakers. Point guard Rajon Rondo, who was acquired March 25 from the Atlanta Hawks for Lou Williams, will make his Clippers debut this weekend; he has been dealing with an adductor injury but says he spent time learning the team’s plays during his time off. Rondo averaged 3.9 points and 3.5 assists in just under 15 minutes per game with Atlanta.
