New York Knicks vs. Los Angeles Lakers Prediction, NBA Odds
The New York Knicks are headed to Los Angeles on Saturday night for a meeting with the Lakers as both teams find themselves outside of the playoff picture in their respective conferences. The Knicks dropped a home contest 120-108 against Memphis on Wednesday, while the Lakers fell 111-110 to the Clippers on Thursday.
L.A. is a short favourite to win on the NBA odds.
Knicks vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds
This concludes the season series between these teams, following New York’s 106-100 home win on Nov. 23. Russell Westbrook put up a game-high 31 points for the Lakers in the loss, while Evan Fournier led the Knicks with 26. The total has gone Under in four of the last five games in this head-to-head series.
New York has dropped four of their last five games overall and six of their last seven on the road. They’re 25-27 against the spread this season and have covered in six of their last seven games against the Lakers. The total has gone Over in four of the Knicks’ last six games.
It’s been a struggle for L.A. this season, but they’ve managed to pick up wins in six of their last eight home games. They’re 23-30 ATS overall, including just 11-17 ATS at home. The total has gone Over in 10 of the Lakers’ last 15 games.
New York Knicks
With the loss against Memphis, the Knicks have now dropped seven of their last nine games. Fournier managed a game-high 30 points, while Canadian RJ Barrett put up 23. Julius Randle finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Mitchell Robinson had 14 points and 11 boards. Despite averaging team-highs in points per game (18.5), rebounds (9.9) and assists (5.1), Randle’s play has significantly dropped off since winning the NBA’s Most Improved Player award last year. Randle averaged 24.1 ppg, 10.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists last season. Barrett is second on the Knicks this season with 17.5 ppg, while Fournier is third with 14.1.
Los Angeles Lakers
There were five lead changes in the final 63 seconds against the Clippers, but the Lakers failed to come out on top. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with a game-high 30 points and 17 rebounds. Malik Monk chipped in 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Westbrook added 17 points and six rebounds. LeBron James missed his fifth consecutive game with swelling in his left knee. That’s a considerable loss, considering James averages 29.1 ppg, tied with Joel Embiid for second in the NBA. James’ status is still up in the air for Saturday, though it’s unlikely he’ll play. That obviously puts a bigger load on Davis’ and Westbrook’s shoulders. Davis is second on the team with 23.6 ppg and Westbrook is third with 18.7.
