The defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors trailed their first-round Western Conference playoff series against the Sacramento Kings 2-0 but now lead 3-2 and can close it out Friday at home with the Dubs as 7-point favourites on the NBA odds.

Kings vs. Warriors NBA Playoffs Betting Odds

With Golden State becoming the first road team to win in the series Wednesday, 123-116, it now leads 3-2. The sixth-seeded Warriors are -1000 on the updated series line and the third-seeded Kings +524. The favoured exact result is Golden State in six at -200 (I agree), followed by in seven at +200 and Kings in seven at +962. Should there be a Game 7, it would be back in Sacramento on Sunday.

The winner of this series would face either the Memphis Grizzlies or Los Angeles Lakers in the conference semifinals. Either of these teams would have home-court advantage against LeBron and the seventh-seeded Lakers, but neither would against Ja Morant and the second-seeded Grizzlies.

Sacramento is 12-3 ATS in its past 15 at Golden State.

Sacramento Kings

It has been generally proven that teams have to learn to advance in the playoffs – look at Michael Jordan’s Bulls, for example, as they had to learn to beat Boston and Detroit in the East, and it took a while, before MJ started winning titles. This season has been widely successful for the Kings regardless as they are in the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Maybe next year they can take a second step forward, but it’s very tough to see them winning Game 6 on the road (can cover the spread, though). All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox played through a fractured index finger on his shooting hand in the 123-116 home loss on Wednesday. It may have affected him some as Fox was 9-for-25 overall and 3-for-10 from depth with six turnovers while wearing a brace on that ginger. He did have 24 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. The Kings turned it over 19 times and were outscored 19-14 on points off turnovers. Sacramento is 4-1 ATS in its pat five following an ATS.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State had just 11 regular-season road wins, easily the fewest for any playoff team, but its postseason experience was clearly a difference in Game 5. The Dubs shot 52.1 per cent from the field and had 33 assists in the victory at Sacramento – under Steve Kerr, the Warriors rarely lose when they have at least 30 assists. Steph Curry led the way with 31 points despite hitting just 2-for-10 from deep. Klay Thompson had 25 and Toronto native Andrew Wiggins 20. Draymond Green came off the bench for a second game in a row and had a surprising 21 points to go with seven assists, four rebounds and four steals. Golden State has now won at least one road game in an astonishing 28 consecutive playoff series, by far an NBA record. The Kings’ best chance to win this series probably was in Game 3 when they were up 2-0 and Green was suspended, but Golden State won easily and hasn’t looked back. The Warriors are 2-6 ATS in their past eight following an ATS win.
