The Atlanta Hawks are trying to become the Golden State Warriors of the Eastern Conference but their transformation is still in the infant stages. They get a chance to see how they match up against the real thing when they visit Oakland on Tuesday night and play the Steph Curry-less Warriors.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Atlanta was projected to be the worst team in the Association this season and the club is living up to the expectations. At 3-10, only the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns have worst straight up records.

It hasn’t been quite as bad against the spread for Atlanta supporters. The Hawks are 5-8 ATS and the Over is 7-6 in their 13 games this year. It took a last-second, putback dunk by LeBron James for the Los Angeles Lakers to down the Hawks 107-106 on Sunday. Atlanta easily covered as an 11-point road underdog.

The Hawks are double-digit underdogs again on Tuesday, and they’ll be looking to improve on their 2-1 ATS mark this season when getting 10 or more points on the line.

The Warriors were playing some of their best regular season basketball in years until an injury to Stephen Curry slowed down their momentum. The two-time league MVP strained his groin last week against the Milwaukee Bucks and he’s sat out the Dubs’ last two games.

Golden State is still 11-3 SU (8-6 ATS) and the Over is 8-6 in the club’s 14 games. The Warriors are coming off a 121-116 overtime loss against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.

Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are in the hands of rookie Trae Young. Atlanta general manager Travis Schlenk was the assistant GM in Golden State before he joined the Hawks in the spring of 2017. He saw first hand how a player with unlimited shooting range can impact a team’s offence.

The club traded the rights to Luka Doncic for Young and a future first round pick at last year’s NBA draft. Schlenk and the Atlanta front office are hoping Young can become the next Stephen Curry.

The early numbers have been pretty decent for the rookie point guard. He’s averaging 18.5 points and 8.2 assists per game but he’s shooting just 28.4 percent on his 3-point attempts.

Golden State Warriors

The thing about having a roster with five All-Stars is that the cupboard can look pretty bare if a couple of them aren’t in the lineup. DeMarcus Cousins, the latest All-Star to join the Dubs, isn’t expected back until February or March as he recovers from a torn Achilles.

Curry is day-to-day with the groin injury and Draymond Green returned to the starting unit after sitting two games with a toe injury. Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson combined to score 64 points at Los Angeles in a losing effort on Monday night.
