The Lakers and Hawks will meet in L.A. Friday night with both teams coming off wins over the Sacramento Kings.  Los Angeles downed the Kings 122-114 on Tuesday, while Atlanta took Sacramento out 108-102 on Wednesday.

The Lakers are 3-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 227.0.

Hawks vs. Lakers NBA Betting Odds

This head-to-head has been dominated by the Lakers as they’ve won eight of the last 10 meetings.  The total has trended low, with five of the last six games going Under.

It’s been a disappointing season for Atlanta as they sit three games below .500 and out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  They’re just 15-22 against the spread overall, although they’ve managed to cover in eight of their last 11 road games.  The total has gone Over in seven of the Hawks’ last eight games against Western Conference teams and four of their last five overall.

The Lakers have done well at home against Atlanta, winning 12 of the last 15 games played between these teams in L.A.  They haven’t been a great cover option this season as they’re 16-23 ATS overall and 8-15 ATS at home.  The total has gone Over in five of L.A.’s last seven games overall and four of their last five at home.

Atlanta Hawks

Kevin Huerter came up big against Sacramento on Wednesday, scoring five of his team-high 25 points in the final 38 seconds.  Huerter also added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, while Cam Reddish put up 18 points and Clint Capela had 11 points and 14 rebounds.  Six of Atlanta’s eight players hit double-digit points.  The shorthanded Hawks were missing Trae Young (lower back bruise), John Collins (COVID), Bogdan Bogdanovich (COVID) and Jalen Johnson (COVID).

Young, who is third in NBA scoring with 28.4 points per game, finished with a career-high 56 points against Portland on Monday and is listed as questionable against the Lakers.  Collins, Bogdanovich and Johnson have reportedly cleared COVID protocols, but it’s unclear if they’ll be in game-shape quick enough to play on Friday.

Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James and Malik Monk led the way against the Kings on Tuesday.  James finished with a game-high 31 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.  Monk had 24 points, four boards and four dimes.  Russell Westbrook and Talen Horton-Tucker each added 19 points.  James is second in NBA scoring with 28.6 ppg and is averaging 32.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.5 blocks over his last 10 games.  His 26-point effort against Minnesota on Sunday broke a streak of seven consecutive games with at least 30 points.

Anthony Davis continues to remain out of the lineup with a knee injury that is expected to sideline him until the end of the month.  In 27 games this season, Davis is averaging 23.3 points and 9.9 rebounds.  Kendrick Nunn is getting closer to returning from a knee injury that has kept him out all season, but there is still no timetable for his return.  The Lakers are dealing with no COVID issues at the moment.
