Developing Updates: Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups, Heat G Tery Rozier among 34 arrested in FBI gambling probes
Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups were arrested on Thursday as part of FBI investigations into illegal sports betting and rigged poker games affiliated by the Mafia, authorities announced at a press conference on Thursday.

Rozier and Billups are among 34 people arrested after investigations years in the making that cover 11 U.S. states and involve tens of millions of dollars, according to FBI director Kash Patel.
Rozier is accused of participating in illegal sports betting using private insider NBA information. He didn’t play in Miami’s season-opening loss against the Magic on Wednesday due to a coach’s decision.
Billups was arrested in Oregon in a separate indictment alleging a large-scale scheme aimed at rigging underground poker games backed by Mafia families, authorities said.
Rozier and Billups are each expected to make court appearances Thursday in Florida and Oregon, respectively.
Former Cleveland Cavaliers player and assistant coach Damon Jones was also arrested Thursday. Dash is alleged to have provided inside information to co-defendants who then used that information to place sports bets.
Six of the defendants charged on Thursday are tied to the sports betting case, while 31 defendants are connected to the rigged poker games. Jones is one of three people allegedly involved in both case, according to Joseph Nocella Jr., U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
