After 11 seasons in Portland, superstar Damian Lillard, still searching for a championship, has asked the Trail Blazers to trade him. Where will he land?
Sources spoke to the Associated Press under the guise of anonymity on Saturday. It is said that Damian Lillard, a 7-time NBA All-Star and an inclusion on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team list, has asked the Portland Trail Blazers for a trade.

Damian Lillard Asks Trail Blazers to Trade Him
Lillard is one of the more interesting personalities around the league, his undeniable talents notwithstanding. He has spoken in equal measures of how proud he is to be a member of the Trail Blazers organization and how he blocks out the noise of playing for a side that rarely competes on the same level as the Warriors, Lakers, Bucks and Celtics. On the flip side, he’s been public about how the ultimate goal is in fact to get at least one ring.
And so, after 11 seasons of terrific personal success and very limited team success, sources say that Damian Lillard has asked the only club he’s ever played for to trade him. No one will ever be able to argue that he wasn’t faithful to the organization that drafted him.
During that time Portland has only captured four playoff series, which culminated in a Conference Finals participation in 2019, but they were swept by the Golden State Warriors.
Last year, despite averaging an incredible 32.2 points per game, the best the Trail Blazers could muster was a 33-49 record, not even close to good enough to make the playoffs. The last time they did was in 2021 when they were bounced out in the first round by the Denver Nuggets.
Whatever the front office has been trying to do the last two years to be competitive, and whatever it is they had started to work on this offseason, it evidently did not impress Lillard enough. Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant are moulding into solid players, but the process is slow and time is starting to run out on Lillard’s chances at glory.
