Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers Game 4 Prediction, NBA Playoff Odds
The Boston Celtics can push the Philadelphia 76ers to the verge of elimination from this year’s NBA playoffs with a win on Sunday night, when these two teams hit the hardwood at Xfinity Mobility Arena for Game 4 of their Eastern Conference first-round series.
The Celtics survived a seesaw battle in Game 3 to claim a 108-100 victory and now take a 2-1 series lead into Sunday night’s pivotal matchup.
The 76ers now face an uphill battle against the archnemesis Celtics, as they look to rebound and claim their first playoff series over Boston since 1982.
The Celtics once again lead the way as 7.5-point favourites on the Game 4 odds after narrowly covering as 7.5-point chalk in Game 3. The 76ers sit off the pace as +230 underdogs on the NBA moneyline, and the total is pegged at 213.5. With Friday’s win, the Celtics have rebounded to -1250 chalk on the NBA series prices, while the Sixers have tumbled to a distant +750 bet.
Celtics vs. 76ers NBA Betting Odds
After stunning the Celtics with a 111-97 victory in Game 2, the Sixers once again gave Boston plenty of headaches in Game 3. While the 76ers trailed for most the contest, they briefly claimed a lead in the fourth quarter and consistently kept the matchup a one-possession game until the Celtics pulled away in the dying seconds.
While the 76ers’ stingy defensive play has generating steady payouts for NBA betting fans taking the UNDER, which has gone 11-2 in Philadelphia’s past 13 games, they remain a risky bet against the spread, going 1-2 during the series and 3-6 ATS in their past nine overall.
Despite keeping fans on the edge of their seats, they have remained a reliable bet, covering the spread in 11 of their past 14 contests. That reliability has buoyed them on the NBA futures, where they enter the weekend as short +125 chalk to win the East and trail only the Oklahoma City Thunder as +500 second favourites on the NBA championship odds.
The Sixers sit well back at +3500 on the Eastern Conference futures and a distant +500 wager to claim their first NBA title since 1983.
Boston Celtics
Once again, the duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum powered the Celtics in Game 3. Brown and Tatum combined for 50 total points in the contest, with Tatum going a steady 5-for-9 on threes. Brown has now averaged 29 points and six assists so far in the series, while Tatum has twice scored 25 points and averaged 23 points during the series, as well as 7.7 assists.
The superstar duo were the only players to play 40+ minutes in Game 3, and accounted for almost half of the club’s point production. However, Payton Pritchard played a crucial role of the bench, with all of his 15 points coming on threes after averaging just 8.0 points in the first two games of the series while going a combined 2-for-13 from downtown.
Philadelphia 76ers
After powering the Sixers to victory in Game 2, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe once again provided the spark on Friday night. While Edgecombe mustered just 10 points on Friday after scoring a team-high 30 points in Game 2, he remained dominant in the paint, pulling down 10 rebounds for his third double-double in four games, and also contributed five helpers.
The 20-year-old’s breakthrough performance adds value to his -105 odds on the NBA player props to record OVER 22.5 points + rebounds in Game 4. Maxey turned in his best performance of the series in Game 3, scoring a game-high 31 points, and adding six assists and four boards, and has now scored 29+ points in four of his past six outings.
