The Knicks rebounded from their loss in Game 2 with a sterling defensive performance on their way to a 99-79 Game 3 win on Friday night, but have failed to record consecutive victories in six games. Friday’s defeat marked the Cavs’ lowest scoring outing in over two years, and drops Cleveland to 1-7 straight up in its past eight road playoff games.

The Knicks are listed as 2.5-point favourites on the Sunday NBA odds, while the Cavs are pegged as +118 moneyline underdogs and the total sits at just 206.5.

Cavaliers vs. Knicks NBA Playoffs Betting Odds

The Knicks have now taken five of seven overall from the Cavaliers this season including victories in all three meetings at Madison Square Garden. The total has gone well UNDER 200 in all three games in the series to date, fueling a steady 7-2 run for the UNDER.

After claiming a 2-1 series lead with Friday’s win, the Knicks have emerged as -213 favourites on the NBA playoff series prices, with +307 odds favouring a New York series victory in five games.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers looked unprepared for the physical battle that awaited them in Game 3. Shooting a meager 38.8% from the field on the night, the Cavaliers mustered just 32 points before the half on their way to the lowest scoring performance by an NBA team this season.

After lighting up the Knicks for 32 points in Game 2, Darius Garland struggled, shooting just 4-for-21 including 1-for-7 from beyond the arc for 10 points on the night. Caris LeVert drew a starting assignment after dropping 24 points in Game 2, but came up empty in the first half before rebounding with 17 points after recess. After focusing on playmaking in Game 2 while recording 13 assists and 17 points, Donovan Mitchell led the squad with 22 points and contributed seven rebounds. However Mitchell enjoyed little support form the Cavs bench, which contributed just 14 total points on the night.

New York Knicks

Backed by a raucous MSG crowd, the Knicks overcame a sloppy first quarter to set themselves apart from the Cavs with a 17-6 run in the second frame that secured them a comfortable lead they would not relinquish.

After struggling in the first two games of the series, RJ Barrett found his groove on home court, scoring 19 points and adding eight rebounds, which marks his best performance since early March. Jalen Brunson shot just 5-for-17 in Game 2 but bounced back to hit 10-for-18 for 21 points on Friday, and also contributed six assists for a second straight game. With their physical play proving effective, and backed by a hometown crowd so loud they often drowned out the public address announcer, the Knicks are well positioned to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. That is if they can overcome a dismal 1-6 run over their past seven game 4 appearances.
