Utah is riding a five game win streak heading into Friday’s matchup against a Bucks team that just had their own five game win streak snapped.

The Jazz opened as 2.0-point favourites on the NBA odds.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Utah stomped on the Bucks in the only meeting between these teams this season.  The Jazz rolled out of Milwaukee with a 131-118 win in January.  Donovan Mitchell led Utah with 32 points.  Giannis Antetokounmpo had a game-high 35 points in the loss.

The Bucks road record is their biggest concern right now.  Milwaukee is 7-7 outside of Wisconsin and has only covered the spread in six of those 14 games.  They have also struggled to cover against Utah overall, going 5-15 against the spread in their last 15 games against the Jazz.

Utah has been just as good at home as on the road this season, picking up 10 wins inside and 10 wins outside of their home arena.  The Jazz have rewarded bettors this year too.  Utah is 15-1-1 ATS in their last 17 games.  They have also won 10 straight home games overall and 18 straight home games against Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Bucks

Antetokounmpo can only do so much.  Even his season-high 47-point effort wasn’t enough in Milwaukee’s 125-124 loss to Phoenix on Wednesday.  Antetokounmpo put up 17 more points than the next closest player in the game and none of his Bucks teammates even broke 20 points.  The Bucks are relying too heavily on Antetokounmpo.  The Greek Freak leads the team in average points per game (28.1) and rebounds per game (11.1) and also averages 5.5 assists per game.  Milwaukee averages a league-best 121.4 points per game, but give up 111.9 points per game.  That defensive mark is worse than all but five teams in the league.

Jrue Holiday has proved to be a valuable off-season pickup.  The former Pelicans star is averaging 16.4 points per game, 4.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists.  Holiday also leads the Bucks in steals per game (1.9), but hasn’t played since Feb. 6 after reportedly testing positive for COVID-19.  With Holiday out for the foreseeable future, Milwaukee needs to find Antetokounmpo some secondary scoring and they need to find it fast.

Utah Jazz

Utah has been the best team in the league all season and come into this game on a five game winning streak.  Mitchell finished with a game-high 36 points and nine assists in the Jazz’s 122-108 dismantling of Boston on Tuesday, while Joe Ingles dropped 24 points and Rudy Gobert had 18 points and 12 rebounds.  All three players gelled well together in 36 minutes of action each.  Mitchell and Gobert seem to have put the public tension they had with each other at the end of last season behind them.  Gobert is averaging 13.4 points per game and sits third in the NBA, averaging 13.5 rebounds and second in the league with 2.7 blocks.

Mitchell has been absolutely dominant this season.  Utah’s leading scorer is averaging 24.0 points per game, 4.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists.  With at least 25 points in the Jazz’s last three games, Mitchell has been the biggest reason for Utah’s current win streak and their dominance all season.  With a few days of rest and also playing at home, Mitchell has a big chance to show the NBA he can hang with the big boys like Antetokounmpo.
