Counting out the Boston Celtics has made a lot of people very poor - and the Celtics will look to keep that trend going as they host the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2 of their NBA second-round playoff series Wednesday night.

The Celtics were home underdogs in the opener but came out and blasted the Sixers 117-101 Monday night, trimming Philadelphia’s odds of winning the series and earning at least a little respect from oddsmakers ahead of Game 2.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Boston goes from a five-point underdog in Game 1 to a four-point ‘dog in Game 2 – and given how well the Celtics have played at TD Garden of late, bettors might think they’re getting a bargain. Boston is a red-hot 10-1 ATS in its previous 11 home games, and has successfully covered seven straight home contests against teams with winning road records. But the 76ers are equal to the task, having gone 6-2 ATS in their past eight games away from Philadelphia.

The Celtics are a sensational over option heading into Game 2, having gone above the number in seven of their past eight victories while going 10-2 O/U in their previous 12 games overall. Philadelphia has converted the over in four of its previous five road games, but is 3-7-1 O/U in its last 11 after surrendering 100 or more points in its prior contest. The teams have combined to go over the total in seven of their previous 10 encounters in Boston.

Philadelphia 76ers

Liking the 76ers to finish off the Celtics in six games? So do oddsmakers, who are offering +187 odds on Philadelphia taking care of Boston in their third home game of the series. In fact, you’ll get +150 on the series going six games regardless of the winner. The 76ers remain the series favourites at -227 and are a solid bounceback bet, having gone 26-10-1 ATS in their previous 37 games after allowing their opponents to hit triple digits in their previous outing.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics have plenty going for them in this one, at least from a trends perspective. In addition to the ones listed above, Boston is a sizzling 8-2 ATS in its last 10 games against teams above .600 on the year, and has covered 21 times in its previous 29 games following a double-digit victory. In addition, the underdog has successfully covered in seven of the last nine meetings between the teams.
