Racing Analysis

The Folds of Honor – QuikTrip 500 is 500.5 miles/325 lap NASCAR Cup Series points race held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia.

Speaking of hot streak, not only is Brad Keselowski a back to back Sunday winner entering the race, he is also a two-time winner of this event and the defending champion. He is currently paying a respectable +650 to do it again on Sunday afternoon.

Season points leader Kevin Harvick is the favourite to win this Sunday at Atlanta. Harvick has eight top 10 finishes this season and leads all drivers in most laps led this season with 391. Harvick is chalked at +400 at Sports Interaction.

Veteran Jimmie Johnson has won this race four times in his career. The last time was back-to-back victories in 2015 and 2016. He is currently paying +1600 at SIA.

If you are looking for a long shot, why not circle Aric Almirola at +5000. Double A hasn’t won a race this season, but has three top ten finishes in nine starts. Last season he won the pole position in this race, but finished a distant eighth place. Perhaps revenge could be on his mind?

Prediction

Many Nascar insiders thought Chase Elliott could have won last week’s race, but he is the only one to blame for the 22rd place finish. Elliot wrecked Joey Logano with three laps remaining at Bristol, opening the door for the Keselowski’s win.

Prior to that race, Elliott finished second at the Cup series race in Charlotte, first in both the truck series and Cup series races on May 26 and 28, so he’s been on a hot streak as of late overall.

Elliott is third in the season’s points race, only 45 points back of Harvick, has five top ten finishes in nine races and his five stage wins is tops among all NASCAR drivers.

Chase Elliott at +600 is my selection to win the The Folds of Honor – QuikTrip 500
