Saturday’s main event features a middleweight fight between No. 10 contender Uriah Hall and UFC legend Anderson Silva, in the final fight of Silva’s career.

“The Spider” Silva has declared this will be his last fight, but his swan song sees him as a +165 underdog, while Hall comes in as the favourite at -230 on the MMA odds.

Anderson Silva UFC Fight Night Odds

The last few years have been rough on the 45-yeard-old Silva (34-10) as he has battled injuries and tested positive for banned substances. Silva is coming off two straight losses. The most recent was a first round TKO loss to Jared Cannonier at UFC 237 and he only has one win in his last seven fights. Silva’s last win came at UFC 208 in February 2017, a controversial unanimous decision over Derek Brunson. Most analysts actually scored the win for Brunson.

Despite his recent losses, Silva is still dangerous.  This is a former middleweight champion with 14 title defenses under his belt, until he finally dropped the title to Chris Wideman at UFC 162. “The Spider” is an improvisational fighter, who relies on a solid balance between striking and grappling. His 59 per cent significant strike accuracy is sixth all-time and edges Hall’s 51 per cent accuracy. The Brazilian also has a better significant strike defense (61 per cent for Silva, 52 per cent for Hall) and a much better takedown accuracy (75 per cent for Silva, 38 per cent for Hall).  Silva has proven to be an elusive and frustrating opponent for fighters. Can he do it one more time and end a legendary career on top?

Uriah Hall UFC Fight Night Odds

The 36-year-old Hall (16-9) comes into Saturday’s main event as the younger fighter, but his career has been a mixed bag of results up to this point.  Hall is riding a two-fight win streak that includes a KO over Bevon Lewis at UFC 232 and a split decision over Antonio Carlos Junior in September 2019. The Jamaican is a knockout specialist with 11 of his 16 career wins coming by KO /TKO.

Hall is a Top-10 middleweight contender with a 2.5-inch reach advantage over Silva. He relies on a strategy of quick, powerful striking and he is most successful when he dictates the speed of the fight. Hall also edges out Silva in average significant strikes landed per minute (Hall averages 3.43, Silva averages 3.06) and average takedowns per 15 minutes (Hall averages 0.84, Silva averages 0.18).  Hall packs a lot of power deceptively quick, if he can dictate the speed of this fight he has a chance to end it early.

UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Hall Prediction

Regardless of the outcome, a UFC legend’s career will end for the second Saturday in a row.  Silva’s fight IQ and ability to change his strategy on the fly always give him a chance to win, but Hall’s power and quickness should ultimately prove to be too much for “The Spider”. Look for a KO/TKO win for Hall.
