MLB Teams to Watch

Seattle Mariners

American League West Winner: +165

Their pitching staff got most of the hype at the beginning of the season, but it’s the offence that’s been the biggest reason for Seattle’s surge to the top of the AL West standings. Cal Raleigh is tied for the MLB lead in home runs with 10. Jorge Polanco is not far behind, with a pair of two-homer performances over a recent three-day span.

New York Mets

Team with Most Regular Season Wins: +700

The club with the best run differential in the majors has been doing it with bursts of offence and a consistently superb rotation. Entering play on Thursday, the Mets have the lowest overall team ERA and the lowest starting pitcher ERA at 2.24. New York has won 13 of its first 16 at home, including a four-game sweep of the Cardinals. Those two face off beginning Friday in St. Louis.

Colorado Rockies

Team with Fewest Regular Season Wins: -375

Whatever the frigid temperature is in Colorado’s mountain peak, the Rockies are colder.

At 5-25 following play on Wednesday, they are on pace to be worse than last year’s Chicago White Sox for the all-time worst record. Colorado is third from the bottom in team batting average, OPS, and ERA and tied for last in runs scored. The Rockies are in San Francisco for four facing one of the best in the National League – although they did take Thursday’s opener.

Players to Watch

José Ramírez, Guardians & Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Blue Jays

AL MVP Winner: +6600

Two of the most dynamic hitters in the AL will be featured at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays have been looking for any bat to get hot, and Vlad Jr. answered. He reached base safely in each of the last six games in April, and delivered a lead-changing three-run homer Thursday to beat Boston. That win has the Jays at 15-16 heading into the weekend. Ramírez hasn’t performed to the level he’s capable of with five homers and a barely higher than a .500 slugging percentage. He started similarly slow in 2024 before going on an 11-homer, 33-RBI tear in May.

Pete Crow-Armstrong, Cubs

National League MVP: +5000

He had quickly established himself as an elite defender last season. Now, he’s putting it all together. PCA ended April slashing .326/.355/.640 with six home runs, 19 RBI and 11 stolen bases as a significant piece of an all-around solid Chicago lineup. He also has the fifth-highest fWAR in the league at 1.9. The Cubs take their 19-13 first-place record to Milwaukee, where PCA has just one hit over his first 15 at-bats.

Max Fried, Yankees

AL Cy Young Winner: +800

The defending American League champion’s biggest acquisition this offseason is living up to ace material so far. Fried hasn’t allowed an earned run in over two weeks and has just five to his name all year. He’s given the Yankees length with each start, going six innings or longer in each of his past four appearances. He starts the opener of this weekend’s series versus Tampa Bay, which managed just two hits against him over 7.2 frames on April 20.
