2025 World Series Odds: Blue Jays include Bo Bichette, Ty France on roster

The Toronto Blue Jays are getting a big piece of their lineup back for Game 1 of the World Series on Friday as star shortstop Bo Bichette has been named to the roster after missing nearly two months with a knee injury.

Here’s what you need to know.

Blue Jays World Series roster

Bichette will take Joey Loperfido’s spot from the ALCS roster after Loperfido was added to the roster in the middle of the series against the Seattle Mariners as a replacement for the injured Anthony Santander.

First baseman Ty France was also added to the World Series roster, replacing reliever Yariel Rodriguez. That means the Blue Jays are carrying 14 hitters and 12 pitchers in the series.

Bichette’s addition provides a massive offensive boost as Toronto tries to keep pace with an L.A. Dodgers lineup that boasts the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts.

The 27-year-old Bichette was named a finalist for the Silver Slugger Award at shortstop after hitting .311 (second in the majors) with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs in 2025.

The Orlando native hasn’t played since suffering a PCL injury in his right knee on Sept. 6. He missed the remainder of the regular season and he was left off both the ALDS and ALCS rosters.

Bichette led the majors with 181 hits at the time of his injury and finished the year tied for second in hits and second in doubles (44) despite missing the final 20 games of the regular season.

It’s still unclear how the Blue Jays will use Bichette. When talking to reporters at media day on Thursday, manager John Schneider said playing Bichette at second base, shortstop or designated hitter are all options. George Springer would move to the outfield if Bichette DH’s.

World Series odds

Game 1 of the World Series is Friday at Rogers Centre in Toronto, with first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

The Blue Jays enter the World Series as +185 underdogs, while L.A. is a -225 favourite to repeat.

Toronto is a +120 Game 1 underdog, with L.A. sitting at -155.

My best bet for the World Series is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to win World Series MVP. Guerrero is dominating in the playoffs, posting a ridiculous .442 average with 19 hits, six home runs and 12 RBIs. If the Blue Jays win the World Series, Guerrero will be a major factor.
