2024 Toronto Blue Jays Betting Odds and Player Props
With about a month to go before Opening Day, we can finally start talking baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Jays didn’t make any major or significant roster changes in the off-season and while I’m still trying to get over the Shohei Ohtani letdown, it’s important to remember there are still some great players on this team. And with that, let’s take a look at some Toronto Blue Jays player props for 2024.
For all things Toronto Blue Jays, don’t forget to check out our complete list of MLB game odds, MLB futures and MLB specials and props.
Kevin Gausman
Kevin Gausman is coming off the best season of his career in 2023. Gausman was named an All-Star for the second time in his career and he finished the the year with a 3.16 ERA over 185 innings pitched, recording an American League-best 237 strikeouts. With Alek Manoah’s well documented struggles last year, Gausman saved Toronto’s season and he projects to have another strong year in 2024.
Gausman’s control has helped him dominate hitters, with his strikeout-to-walk ratio a standout feature of his pitching. He’s one of the most unsung aces in the majors, which is why you’re getting him at +1000 value despite Gausman being the pitching cornerstone of a Blue Jays team that should win a lot of games in 2024. Gausman has a proven track record and at 33-years-old, he still has several solid season of baseball left in the tank.
Bo Bichette
Bo Bichette led the American League in hits in 2021 (191) and 2022 (189) and he finished fourth with 175 hits in 2023. Bichette was on pace for 207-hits last season, but missing nearly 30 games due to injury, essentially costing him the AL lead. Keep in mind this prop is for the majors, not just the AL, but, at only 25-years-old, Bichette is primed to continue dominating pitchers this season.
Bichette has been such a dangerous hitter in his career in large part due to elite plate coverage and his ability to take the ball to the opposite field. He’s a pure hitter and he can handle every type of pitch. Bichette is a .299 hitter for his career, never hitting less than .290 in a season. There’s great value at +1100 for Bichette to lead the majors in hits this season.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finished with 94 RBI last season, the lowest total since his rookie year (excluding the COVID season), but there’s reason to believe he’s due for a bounce-back season in 2024. Remember, Guerrero’s 24-years-old and just coming into the prime of his career. He’s looked noticeably slimmer and stronger in Spring Training and he’s only two years removed from nearly winning AL MVP with 111 RBI and 48 home runs.
Guerrero has a high ceiling and even his down-years are considered good seasons for a lot of players. He spent most of the off-season training in Florida and he says he hasn’t felt this good physically since his breakout campaign in 2021. He could have been the unanimous AL MVP three years ago if not for the unicorn that is Shohei Ohtani. Guerrero was dealing with his left wrist and right knee issues last year, so if those injuries are all cleared up and he’s fully healthy, 2024 could be a big year for the star slugger.
