Stampeders vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds

The standalone Friday night game in Week 7 around the CFL features a pair of one-loss teams from the West Division as Calgary visits Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers are -3.5 on the CFL odds with a total of 50.5 points that is tied for the lowest of the week.

CFL Odds and Betting

Friday marks the second of three regular-season meetings between the clubs, with Winnipeg at Calgary in Week 10 to conclude it. In Week 5 also in Calgary, the Blue Bombers were -4.5 and lost 37-16 in the first “Stampede Bowl.”

Damon Webb and Derrick Moncrief returned interceptions for touchdowns for the Stamps, and Vernon Adams Jr. threw TD passes to Clark Barnes and Damien Alford. Adams Jr. was honoured as the first-ever Stampede Bowl MVP. Dedrick Mills scored a rushing touchdown for Calgary.

Winnipeg’s Jerreth Sterns caught a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter and kicker Sergio Castillo was good from 19, 21 and 29 yards. Zach Collaros went 34-for-48 passing for 288 yards and one touchdown but had those two pick-sixes. The 21-point margin was the largest defeat Winnipeg suffered with Collaros as the quarterback since Week 3 of the 2023 season when it lost 30-6 at home against the B.C. Lions.

“Of course we don’t expect them to like us (after that game),” said Adams Jr. this week of the Bombers rematch. “But that’s another great opponent coming up for us— you know … five-time West (Division) champions. And they’re at home — sold-out crowd — and they’re coming off a bye, so they’re going to be fresh and ready to go. So we’ve got to bring our ‘A’ game.”

Calgary is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings, but the Bombers are 5-0 SU in the past five at home.

Calgary Stampeders

The Stamps, who are 2-0 on the road, enter Week 7 tied atop the West Division with the Roughriders at 4-1 overall. Calgary was a 6.5-point dog at Saskatchewan in Week 6 and won 24-10 last Saturday – a game postponed from Friday due to air quality concerns. In order for players to take the field, the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI+) must be seven or below and that didn’t happen last Friday. Vernon Adams Jr. was 28-for-36 for 428 yards and threw two scores, reaching 100 career, with Damien Alford catching six balls for 156 yards and two scores. Clarence Hicks was the defensive star with two sacks and a forced fumble. That Calgary defence is allowing a league-low 16.6 offensive points per game and has surrendered only five offensive touchdowns and four completions over 30 yards. Opponents are converting on second down 44.0 per cent of the time, also tops in the league. Wideout Clark Barnes missed Week 6 with an ankle injury and is questionable for this one. The Stampeders lost DB Tyler Richardson and rookie LB Nicky Farinaccio to injuries in the win over the Riders. Calgary is 4-14 SU in its past 18 road games.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

It’s a chance for immediate payback for the Bombers as they haven’t played since that blowout loss in Calgary in Week 5. The club now heads into a stretch where it plays 11 straight games before a third and final bye in early October. Winnipeg is 31-5 at home since the return of league games following the COVID pandemic and 2-0 this season with double-digit wins over the BC Lions and Edmonton Elks. The Bombers are third in the CFL in scoring defence at 23.5 PPG. In some question for Friday due to injury are left tackle Stanley Bryant, running back/returner Peyton Logan and receiver Dalton Schoen, who was injured during the fourth quarter of the Week 5 game in Calgary. If Schoen can’t go, then Kody Case could see his season debut. Case has been on the practice roster since the club transferred him on June 1. “You can trust a guy like Kody Case as he has been with us for a little bit now, so he knows what he is doing,” offensive coordinator Jason Hogan said this week. “He knows where to be and when to be there and I think any quarterback would appreciate that and any offensive coordinator or coach would appreciate that.” The Bombers are 5-2 ATS in their past seven at home. Winnipeg is 18-1 SU when coming off a bye week since 2017.
