Fresh off a bye last week, the RedBlacks aim to snap out of a late-season swoon that continued with a 29-16 loss in Saskatchewan in Week 17, extending their current slide on the road to three games. Already assured of finishing atop the CFL East standings, the Alouettes must avoid complacency down the stretch after posting just one victory in their past four games, a 24-12 win in Ottawa three weeks ago.

The Alouettes lead the way as 4.5-point home favourites on the CFL Week 19 odds while the RedBlacks trail as +180 underdogs in their bid to claim just their third road win of the campaign. The total for Monday’s contest is pegged at 48.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

With decisive victories in their two previous dates this season, the Alouettes extended their current win streak against Ottawa to seven games. The Als have topped the RedBlacks by double-digit margins in four straight meetings, claiming victory by an average margin of over 20 points in those contests and have paid out against the spread in five of six clashes with Ottawa. That is bad news for a RedBlacks squad that has averaged just 16.3 points per game during their current 0-3 run and scored more than 21 points just twice while compiling a dismal 2-5-0 road record this season. Not surprising, the RedBlacks have covered just once in five games and are just 1-4 ATS in their past five away contests when pegged as underdogs by four or more points.

Ottawa RedBlacks

The RedBlacks have chosen the worst possible time to fall into a slump. Since opening the campaign on a steady 7-2-1 that positioned them to challenge the Alouettes for the CFL East lead, the RedBlacks tailed off badly. Ottawa has increasingly struggled to contain opposing offences, allowing 31 points per game during their current 1-4-0 run and at least 27 points in six of their past seven contests. Now well rested after enjoying a bye last week, this team must also find a way to generate more offence. However, the absence of quarterback Dru Brown, who was sidelined by an ankle injury in the team’s loss to Montreal in Week 16, does not help matters. Veteran pivot Jeremiah Masoli has produced disappointing results while leading the offence. Masoli managed to pile up 278 passing yards and one score in the team’s loss to the Roughriders, but also tossed three picks to bring his total number of interceptions to six over the past three games.

Montreal Alouettes

With little to play for after clinch first place in the CFL East, the biggest challenges facing the Alouettes entering Monday’s action are avoiding injuries and finding motivation. Well rested after enjoying a bye last week, Montreal has work to do to tighten up on defence after surrendering 37 points on two occasions during their current 1-2-1 run. The Als were lit up in the air and on the ground in their 37-31 loss in Toronto two weeks, giving up 527 total yards of offence and allowing the Argos to score on six drives before halftime. Quarterback Cody Fajardo was absent from practice this week after his wife gave birth to their second child, but should be ready to go on Monday. Fajardo tossed for a pair of scores in the loss to the Argonauts after failing to fins the end zone in his two previous outings, but lit up Ottawa for three touchdowns and 393 yards on 28-for-35 passing when the RedBlacks last came to town in Week 3.
