Elks vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 8 Point Spread, Odds
The Riders are a 9.5-point favorite, easily the biggest spread of the week, with a total of 53.5 points on the CFL odds.
CFL Week 8 Odds and Betting
It’s the first of two meetings this season between West Division rivals with Saskatchewan at Edmonton in Week 17. They played three times last season, and the Roughriders won two of them but lost the lone home matchup 42-31.
Edmonton finished that victory with 276 yards rushing against what was the CFL’s top ranked rush defence at the time and was allowing just 47.9 rushing yards per game. Javon Leake, filling in for an injured Kevin Brown, dominated with 12 carries for 169 yards and three scores. He had fourth-quarter touchdown runs of 51 and 61 yards. Tre Ford passed for 252 yards and two touchdowns. Ex-Roughriders receiver Tevin Jones caught both TD throws and had 123 yards on three total catches.
Saskatchewan QB Shea Patterson threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort. Frankie Hickson led the rushing attack with 89 yards on 12 carries.
Edmonton is 5-0 ATS in its past five as the road team in the series. The over is 4-1 in the past five meetings in Saskatchewan.

Edmonton Elks
The Elks are out of their Week 7 bye as one of three CFL teams who have won just once this season, with Edmonton averaging the fewest points (24.0) in the league and allowing the most (34.0) – surrendering at least 30 points in every game. The four losses have all been by double digits. Clearly, there has been a clear adjustment period under a new general manager and coaching staff. Quarterback Tre Ford averages 9.5 yards per carry but has carried the ball only 16 times in five games while ranking near the bottom of the league in passing efficiency. Ford was benched in a 32-14 loss to the BC Lions in Week 7 after threw for 34 yards on 3-for-12 passing and a pick. Backup Cody Fajardo spelled him in the fourth quarter with the team trailing 24-7 and went 5-for-7 for 78 yards and a touchdown. The two have split first-team reps this week at practice. The 33-year-old Fajardo, a former Grey Cup MVP, is in his first season with the Elks and has completed 9-for-11 for 107 yards and a TD on the year. Edmonton is 1-5 ATS in its past six games.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Roughriders were 2.5-point underdogs last Saturday at the B.C. Lions and won 33-27 to improve to 5-1 in back-to-back seasons for only the third time in franchise history; their previous consecutive 5-1s were in 1969-70 and 1975-76. QB Trevor Harris threw 395 yards and three touchdowns. Harris is now one shy TD pass shy of tying ex-Roughrider Tom Burgess for 16th all-time. By completing 23 of 30, Harris set a CFL record for most consecutive games (nine) with a completion per centage of at least 70. Two of those TD throws went to Dohnte Meyers, who caught seven passes for 132 yards. Kicker Brett Lauther was 4-for-4 on field-goal attempts and 3-for-3 on conversions. The Roughriders did not punt until the opening play of the fourth quarter and exceeded 500 yards of offence for the first time since 2019. Left tackle Daniel Johnson missed the game with a shoulder injury and Darius Washington made his CFL debut. That O-Line didn’t allow a sack. A victory over Edmonton would give Saskatchewan a 6-1 record for only the fifth time : 1967, 1970, 2008 and 2013. The Roughriders are 5-1 ATS in their past six. It’s a Christmas in July-themed game at Mosaic Stadium on Friday. No. 2 running back Ka’Deem Carey is out.
