We have doubleheader action Saturday in CFL Week 7, and the early game is a crossover matchup as East Division-leading Montreal visits West Division fourth-place Calgary with an afternoon kick in their second straight matchup. The Alouettes are 1.5-point favourites on the CFL odds with a total of 63.5 that is the highest of the week.

CFL Odds and Betting

Sitting atop the East Division at 4-1, Montreal is the Grey Cup favourite at +195 entering Week 7, and quarterback Davis Alexander is the +250 favourite for regular-season Most Outstanding Player. At 2-3, Calgary is +700 to win the Grey Cup.

These teams will know each other well considering the played last Saturday in Montreal. The Alouettes were 3.5-point favourites (total was 63.5), and they won 37-30. Alexander was seen entering the locker room in the fourth quarter, but he didn’t miss any action and said afterward he was fine.

“It’s annoying,” joked Montreal defensive back Wes Sutton said of playing the same team in back-to-back games. “I just saw you, you know? Especially when you get the win, I don’t want to play you again. But we have to. That’s what’s on our schedule. On the positive side, we don’t have to put in anything new, per se. We know the personnel and we know what they like to do. You don’t have to take your foot off the gas for that, but you have confidence going against the same people.”

The Als are unbeaten in the past seven meetings dating to 2022 with one tie mixed in there. Montreal is 16-4 ATS in the past 20 overall.

Montreal Alouettes

In last week’s 37-30 win at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium, Tyson Philpot had a big night with nine catches for 132 yards and a score (another one was called back due to penalty) while adding 16 yards rushing. He leads the CFL in catches (45), receiving yards (719) and is tied for second in TD catches (four).

Davis Alexander had a typically excellent game with 301 yards passing, a TD and no interceptions. That’s five straight 300-yards games to open the season. With tailback Stevie Scott (hamstring) landing on the six-game injured list last week, Travis Theis took over as the featured back and rushed 13 times for 94 yards and a touchdown.

First-year defensive end David Perales made his debut off a hand injury and registered a sack on the second snap of his CFL career. Montreal has just three outright victories in its past 15 trips to Calgary. The Als’ lone loss this year was away.

Calgary Stampeders

Montreal’s Davis Alexander and Calgary’s Vernon Adams Jr. are the only starting QBs yet to throw an interception this CFL season. That’s the longest combined interception-free attempt streak by two opposing quarterbacks in league history — Adams Jr. has not thrown a pick in his past 206 regular season pass attempts. He was terrific in last week’s loss in throwing for 272 yards and three scores but had seven passes batted down and finished with his lowest completion per centage of the year (55.6) while taking three sacks.

Wideout Tevin Jones was quiet in the loss to Montreal with one catch for 19 yards and is in question this week dealing with an illness. Fellow slot back Dejon Brissett had two TD catches for the second week in a row. The Stamps are clearly the inferior team here vs. the Alouettes, but it’s quite difficult to beat the same football team – NFL or CFL – in back-to-back games. Calgary is 6-3 ATS in its past nine.
