2025 CFL Week 17 Picks and Betting Odds: Expect plenty of points between the Lions and Argonauts
Week 17 in the CFL brings plenty of action with double-headers on Friday and Saturday.
First up, is a clash in Montreal between the Alouettes and Stampeders, followed by a meeting between the Lions and Arogs in BC.
Saturday brings us Winnipeg hosting Hamilton, while Saskatchewan travels to Edmonton.
Let’s break down all the Week 17 matchups.

Calgary Stampeders at Montreal Alouettes
It’s a battle between second place teams in Montreal, with the Alouettes looking to add to a two-game win streak and the Stampeders trying to end a two-game losing skid.
Calgary was absolutely hammered in a 52-23 home loss against the Lions last week. The Stamps’ defence was torched for seven total touchdowns and enters Week 17 allowing the most rushing yards per game (113.9) in the CFL.
Vernon Adams Jr. threw for just 115 yards with two interceptions against BC before leaving with a rib injury. Adams will be good to go this week but he’s now failed to throw a touchdown pass in two straight games and it’s been four games since he’s thrown for multiple TDs.
There’s a lot more optimism in Montreal as the Alouettes try to chase down Hamilton for top spot in the East Division. Quarterback Davis Alexander will return to the field after missing eight straight games with a hamstring injury.
It’s a welcome return for the Als, who are 3-7 without Alexander in the lineup this season compared to 4-0 when he starts. Alexander will be looking to rejuvenate an Alouettes offence that ranks dead last in the CFL in offensive points per game (22.1) and eighth in net yards (325.4).
These teams typically play tight matchups, with just two points representing the average margin of victory over the last three head-to-heads, so I like taking the points this week.
Pick: Calgary +4.5
Toronto Argonauts at BC Lions
The Lions and Argos are both playing desperate football as they each look to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Toronto’s playoff outlook looks much grimmer at the moment after last week’s loss to Montreal dropped them to 5-9 on the season and four points behind the Alouettes in the standings.
Meanwhile, the Lions’ offence is firing on all cylinders. Nathan Rourke just set a new single season passing record for Canadians, while Keon Hatcher leads the league in receiving yards and James Butler leads the league in rushing yards.
This figures to be a high scoring game. The Argonauts won the first meeting 52-34 in August and BC enters with the league’s highest-scoring offence (30.7 points per game).
That spells trouble against a Toronto defence that is allowing the most points per game (31.3).
Pick: Toronto +7.5, Over 56.5
Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Hamilton is looking to extend their lead on the East Division with a fourth straight win. The mission for the last four games of the season is to maintain their two-game lead over Montreal and earn a bye into the East Division Final.
The Ti-Cats just beat Winnipeg 32-21 two weeks ago and they’re bolstered by one of the leading candidates to win M.O.P., Bo Levin Mitchell, who leads the league in passing yards (4,194) and passing TDs (28).
The Blue Bombers halted a three-game skid with last week’s 26-18 win in Ottawa, but the main question heading into Week 17 is the health of quarterback Zach Collaros. The veteran pivot is expected to return after missing two games with a neck injury, but it’s fair to question how healthy he’ll be.
Collaros wasn’t playing when Winnipeg lost to Hamilton a couple weeks ago and the Ti-Cats have struggled against West teams this season, so I lean Bombers as slim home favourites.
Pick: Winnipeg -1.5
Saskatchewan Roughriders at Edmonton Elks
The league-leading Roughriders will be salivating at their Week 17 matchup as they get set to face the worst team in the West Division in Edmonton.
Saskatchewan has won six of their last eight games, but their egos are a bit bruised after the defence was torched for 48 points in a loss to Montreal last time out. It was a shock given they entered the game with the top scoring defence in the CFL, allowing just 21.5 points per game.
Edmonton has struggled on both sides of the ball and they have to be frustrated after losing their last two games by a combined total of just three points.
I’m surprised this number isn’t higher. The bye has Saskatchewan rested and ready for a bounce back game, while the Elks are likely looking ahead to their off-season vacations after another year without playoff football.
Pick: Saskatchewan -3.5
