Philadelphia Union vs. Toronto FC MLS Preview and Prediction

Philadelphia currently boasts the best record in all of Major League Soccer at 15-5-5 (50 points). Toronto comes in with a 5-13-6 mark; its 21 points are better than only two teams in the East.

This marks the second head-to-head matchup of the season between these two teams. On May 28, Philadelphia went into Toronto and came away with a 2-1 victory. The visitors trailed 1-0 after 85 minutes but scored two late goals to steal three points.

Philadelphia Union vs. Toronto FC Odds and Betting Trends

Unsurprisingly, the Union are significant favourites this weekend – checking in at -220 on the three-way money line. Toronto is a +525 underdog on the MLS odds, while a draw is priced at +340. The game total is 2.5, with the over juiced at -165 compared to a +120 price on the under.

Five of Philadelphia’s last seven contests have produced two goals or fewer. Toronto’s past four fixtures have all stayed under 2.5 goals.

Toronto FC

Toronto has been shut out in each of its last two games, falling to Nashville 1-0 and Charlotte 2-0. The Reds compiled a 1-3-1 record in the month of July, managing a 1-0 win at San Diego and a 1-1 home draw against Atlanta.

Nobody on Toronto’s active roster has more than 6 points in 2025. Theo Corbeanu (five goals, one assist) has only one point in his last six outings.

Zane Monlouis, Nickseon Gomis, Ola Brynhildsen, Henry Wingo, Raoul Petretta are expected to be sidelined from Saturday’s game due to injuries.

Philadelphia Union

Philadelphia is riding a four-game points streak, with three wins and one draw during this stretch. The Union, who most recently defeated visiting Colorado 3-1 on July 26, have not lost since July 5 at Nashville. They are 10-0-3 in their last 13 home contests across all competitions (8-0-3 in their last 11 MLS home games), with their most recent loss at Subaru Park coming to Nashville on March 16.

Milan Iloski could make his Philly debut after the club signed him earlier this week on a permanent transfer from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland. Iloski was on a temporary loan to San Diego earlier this season and in one game against Vancouver scored four goals in a 12-minute span.

Mikael Uhre scored two goals against Colorado, while Tai Baribo has two of his 15 goals in the last three matches.

MLS Prediction: Who Will Win Philadelphia Union vs. Toronto FC?

Unfortunately for the Reds, their plunge toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings is likely to continue on Saturday. Their offence has been anemic of late, their overall current form is lacklustre at best and they are going on the road to one of the most difficult MLS stadiums in which to play.

The Union, on the other hand, are quite simply one of the best teams in the entire league – especially at home. It is true that they struggled with Toronto in a hard-fought showdown earlier this year, but that was north of the border. Down south – relatively speaking – things could be more routine for Philly.

Philadelphia to win by multiple goals and Under 2.5 both seem like bets worth making for this matchup. Look for the Union to treat their home fans to a 2-0 victory.
