Yesterday, Sports Interaction’s astute poker reporter (moi) updated you with the latest standings in the 2012 Aussie Millions $10,000 Main Event. The big news was that arguably the greatest poker player in the world, Phil Ivey, who has maintained a low profile after declining to be in the 2011 WSOP, was among the top 24 to left in play.
Players reconvened last night for Day 4 and although Ivey is down, he’s definitely not out of the game. Now, at the bottom of the totem pole, Ivey sits in last place with only 12 players remaining. Friday’s play saw the field narrowed from 26 to 12, which began at noon and ended after approximately seven hours, with unknown Canadian player Yann Dion finishing at the top of the leader board with a huge chip stack of 2,670,000. Moving forward, Saturday afternoon will feature six-handed play until only seven players remain. Those seven will play the official final table on Sunday afternoon.
