Can the Texas Longhorns put last years disappointment behind them and live up to their 2008 NCAAB Odds?
Entering the 2008 season, many were asking the same question about the Texas Longhorns. How good can they be without Kevin Durant? The answer: Very. With four returning starters from a 25 – 10 team, there was no doubt this team would be competitive. The surprise has been how balanced and potent the offense has become.
While the Longhorns have all but one of their starters back, this team bears little resemblance to last year’s squad which was basically a one man show. The Longhorns now share the ball and play good ‘team offense.’ They are led by stars D.J. Augustin and A.J. Abrams.
D.J. Augustin has blossomed into being one of the best point guards in the country. He is a terrific passer who rarely turns the ball over and averages close to 20 PPG in scoring. The three is still an important weapon A.J. Abrams, but his shorter shooting has greatly improved and is now a threat to score from anywhere on the floor.
The Texas Longhorns are a big game team. This year they posted wins against Kansas, UCLA and Tennessee. This can only increase their confidence entering the Tournament when every game is a ‘big game’. This is why the Longhorns should be a regular pick when doing your NCAA basketball moneyline betting. Texas knows how to win.
Texas still has the bitter taste of last year’s second round exit in their mouths. The Longhorns will enter the 2008 NCAAB Tournament with another year’s experience, a more balanced attack and a point to prove. Anything less than a trip to San Antonio will be a disappointment.
