Los Angeles Sparks
The Sparks are coming off a frustrating loss to the Seattle Storm earlier this week. L.A. were leading by 21 points in the second, but then suffered a spiral of turnovers, giving Seattle the ball 21 times, to eventually lose by 3 points with a final of 66-63.
Nneka Ogwumike got 22 points and 11 rebounds in the contest, while Lexie Brown had an impressive performance with 15 points. This season, Ogwumike is averaging 20.6 points and 3.2 assists, while Brown is averaging 14.5 points and 2.2 rebounds.
Tonight will be a special one for center Azurá Stevens, who is back from injury and making her Los Angeles debut – against her former team, no less. Stevens spoke with the press on Thursday, saying:
“I’m really excited to be playing in front of the fans. I love connecting with the fan bases wherever I’m at, whether I’m in Turkey, Dallas, Chicago and now I’m here in L.A. I love the city and the energy that they have for sports teams, especially the Sparks and the tradition we have here.”
Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky are coming off of a win against the Fever earlier this week, as they beat the Indiana club with a final score of 108-103.
The difference maker for Chicago in that victory was Marina Mabrey, who scored 28 points and got 2 rebounds during 30 minutes of time on the court. Mabrey is averaging 16.7 points and 4 rebounds this season.
The Sky are averaging 81.3 points per game and allowing 79.9 points per game so far this year. Star player Kahleah Cooper is averaging 18 points a game.
