These teams enjoyed success in 2016 with 11 wins apiece, and each have high aspirations of playing football in early February. NFL preseason odds have the Giants listed as 3-point favourites with the total at 38.

Steelers vs. Giants odds and betting analysis

In the preseason, especially the first week, don’t expect to see a lot of star power on either side of the field. Rosters are expanded with prospects and some veterans don’t even travel. The Giants hold the advantage of 43-34-3 lifetime in 77 games against the Steelers, but the last time these two teams faced each other, the Steelers stopped New York’s a six-game winning streak  winning streak with a 24-14 victory at Heinz Field (Dec. 4, 2016).

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers under Head Coach Mike Tomlin have won 32 regular season games in the last three years and are poised for another double-digit win season in 2017 (Sports Interaction over/under win total is 10.5). The Steelers will showcase new additions on both sides of the ball, with the expected debuts of first-round pick T.J. Watt (LB – Wisconsin), second-round pick JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR – USC), and with future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger contemplating retirement, Steelers fans will get a look at fourth-round pick Quarterback Joshua Dobbs (Tennessee). Steelers fans also patiently await holdout Le’Veon Bell to return to the field. Bell rushed for 1,172 yards in only eight games, leading the club to an AFC Conference Final. The Bell will have to toll once again if they hope to accomplish this feat in back-to-back seasons.

New York Giants

The Giants boasted a top-10 defence last season that was second in the NFL in points allowed (17.6) and tied for fourth in interceptions (17). But as good as the G-Men were on defence, they were the exact opposite on offence. The club ranked 25th in total offence (242.4 yards) and improvements have been made. Free agents Brandon Marshall (WR), Rhett Ellison (TE), along with first-round draft pick Evan Engram (TE Ole Miss) could see the Giants sitting atop the NFC East at season’s end. The franchise is still on the lookout for Eli Manning’s eventual replacement. Currently in camp, Josh Johnson is in a battle with free agent Geno Smith and draft pick Davis Webb (California).
