The unbeaten San Jose Sharks are the most pleasant surprise in the NHL so far – but they’ll face the steepest challenge to their peerless record as they visit the Boston Bruins in a Sunday matinee. Not only are the West Coast Sharks tasked with playing a game that starts in the mid-morning Pacific Time, but they’re also big-time underdogs against a formidable Bruins team that is coming off a dominant 4-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres last time out.

Sharks vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds

With the Sharks playing their fourth game in six nights (in their fourth different city no less), it’s no surprise that the Bruins are considerable favourites in the first meeting between the teams since Oct. 29, 2019. Boston has all the momentum in the head-to-head series, having won seven straight meetings between the clubs while outscoring San Jose by a 28-13 margin in that span. The Bruins are also a red-hot 12-3 SU in their past 15 at TD Garden.

A whopping 91 percent of Sports Interaction bettors like the hosts to end San Jose’s impressive season-opening unbeaten streak, while the overwhelming majority are also siding with the O6 at +102 (with the U6 at -123). The Sharks have gone just 2-2 O/U through their first four games of the season, but have converted the Over in 10 of their previous 15 overall. San Jose has, however, gone 8-3 to the Under in its last 11 vs. Eastern Conference foes.

San Jose Sharks

The distraction of Evander Kane’s 21-game suspension hasn’t impacted the Sharks one bit – at least, not when it comes to in-game performance. And while a number of players have had a hand in San Jose’s impressive 4-0-0 start, the early catalyst has been Logan Couture. The veteran forward has racked up three goals and four assists through the first four games of the young season and is coming off a two-goal showing in Friday’s 5-3 win over Toronto.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins have opted to forge ahead without either of their 2020-21 netminders – and the results have been mixed so far. With Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak both out of the picture, goaltending duties have fallen on the shoulders of Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman. And while Ullmark, who will start Sunday, is off to a great start (1-0-0, 1.00 goals-against average, .972 save percentage), Swayman most certainly is not (1-1-0, 3.02 GAA, .885 SV%).
