Senators vs. Rangers NHL Betting Odds

The New York Rangers won the Presidents’ Trophy last season and reached the Eastern Conference Finals, so their 22-20-4 record is a major disappointment as the Blueshirts wouldn’t even be a Wild-Card team as things stand. They are priced +155 to make the postseason and -185 for No. If they miss, there’s little chance that Coach Peter Laviolette is back next season. And we expect at least one fairly significant move before the trade deadline. Last month, the team shipped out forward and former No. 2 overall pick Kaapo Kakko to Seattle for defenceman Will Borgen and a couple of 2025 draft picks.

Having won five of six to get a season-high six games over .500, Ottawa holds down the East’s top Wild-Card spot and is -210 to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

This marks the second of three regular-season meetings between the teams with the Rangers making their only trip to Ottawa on March 8. On Nov. 1 at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers were 2-1 winners over the Sens. Artemi Panarin and Alexis Lafreniere scored, and former Vezina winner Igor Shesterkin stopped 40 shots. Adam Gaudette scored with 7:32 remaining in the third for Ottawa and Linus Ullmark stopped 16 shots. He’s still out injured.

New York is 7-3 in the past 10 meetings and the over-under is 3-6-1.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators won their third road game in a row Sunday with a 2-1 upset in New Jersey and then stayed in the greater New York area ahead of this one. Anton Forsberg made 25 saves to earn No. 1 star honors, while Zack Ostapchuk (first of season and career) and Artem Zub (second) had the goals. Blueliner Thomas Chabot returned from a one-game absence due to a facial injury and had a helper. The Senators have recorded a point in each of their past six games, tied for their longest run of the season. The last time the club posted a longer point streak was nearly eight years ago, when it had a seven-game stretch from March 2-14, 2017 (6-0-1). Forward Brady Tkachuk enters Tuesday one goal shy of passing Dany Heatley (180) for sole possession of fifth place on the franchise’s all-time list.  It probably will be back to 22-year-old Leevi Merilainen (6-2-1, 2.20 GAA, .917 SV) in net. The under is 8-1 in Ottawa’s past nine.

New York Rangers

New York had a two-game winning streak snapped in a 5-4 OT loss in Montreal on Saturday with backup Jonathan Quick in net. The Rangers blew leads of 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 with Patrik Laine winning it for the Habs at 3:20 of OT. New York defenceman Adam Fox had two assists for his 60th career multi-assist game and passed Brad Park for fourth most by a Rangers blueliner. Brian Leetch tops the list with 143. The Rangers have at least one point in eight straight games (5-0-3). It should be No. 1 goaltender Igor Shesterkin on Tuesday. On Friday, he beat Columbus and pitched his 17th career shutout to pass John Vanbiesbrouck for ninth place on the franchise’s all-time list. He’s 15-15-2 on the season with a 2.87 GAA and .910 SV. The under is 4-1 in the Rangers’ past five at home.
