The tale of the tape for this game sees two teams on opposite four games streaks as they get set to clash in Nashville. The red-hot Sens won their fourth in a row with a 6-0 pounding of Minnesota on Saturday, while the Preds lost their fourth in a row with a 3-0 shutout defeat against Pittsburgh.

This game is hovering around a pick’em on the moneyline, with Nashville sitting at -1.5 on the puckline. The total is set at 5.5 on the NHL odds.

Senators vs. Predators NHL Betting Odds

This wraps up the season series following Ottawa’s 3-1 win on Dec. 7. The Senators have been one of the better surprises in the NHL this season as they currently hold down third place in the Atlantic Division and look destined to end a seven-year playoff drought. The Predators have been one of the bigger disappointments as they sit second-last in the Central Division while being all but eliminated from playoff contention.

In head-to-head action, these teams generally combine for lower scoring games. The Under has played in seven of the last eight matchups, including four straight played in Nashville. Stay away from the Preds as a cover option, however, as they are just 18-26-7 against the spread this season. Ottawa is a solid 28-20-4 ATS.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators shared the wealth on Saturday, using six different goal scorers to dismantle the Wild. Jake Sanderson (1G, 3A) recorded a four-point night, while Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each finished with a goal and two assists. Three power play goals in the first three minutes of the third period broke the game wide open.

Ottawa’s ninth-ranked power play is converting on 23.4 per cent of opportunities this season and it’s a big component to their success overall. The special teams battle could dictate how things play out against Nashville as the Predators rank seventh on the penalty kill (82.2 per cent).

Linus Ullmark (back) was activated off long-term injured reserve on Sunday and Leevi Merilainen was sent to the AHL, so Ullmark will suit up on Monday. Anton Forsberg is expected to get the start, however, as he was the first goalie off the ice at practice. Forsberg has won his last two starts and sits at 7-9-1 this season with a 2.87 goals-against average and .893 save percentage.

Nashville Predators

Nashville’s shutout loss against Pittsburgh on Saturday wasn’t overly surprising as they rank 30th in the NHL in average goals per game (2.61). That lack of offence all year is surprising, however, considering the Predators loaded up in free agency during the off-season, signing Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault to long-term deals. Neither player is averaging a point-per-game and Stamkos is scoreless in four straight, while Marchessault has just one goal in his last 13 games.

Juuse Saros will get the start in net against Ottawa. Saros will be looking to end a rough stretch that has seen him lose his last three starts while allowing nine goals over 91 shots in that span. Over 39 starts this season, Saros is 11-21-6 with a 2.84 GAA and .902 SV.
