You don’t often see a team that has lost five of its past seven games listed at a mind-boggling -370 – but that’s what happens when you’re blessed with a visit by the Ottawa Senators. That’s the situation the New York Islanders find themselves in as they look to bounce back from a cold stretch that has not only dropped them out of top spot in the Metropolitan Division, but has them dangerously close to being on the outside of the playoff picture altogether.

Senators vs Islanders Betting Analysis

The Islanders are still a solid +1,100 option to win the Eastern Conference – but entering Tuesday, they’re a suddenly uncomfortable four points ahead of the two wild-card teams and just six points up on ninth-place Columbus. That said, Tuesday represents a wonderful opportunity to gain ground: the Islanders are 16-2 SU in their past 18 games as a favourite of -200 or greater, while the Sens are 7-20 in their last 27 at +201 or worse.

An overwhelming 87 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are siding with the home team, while a modest 55 percent majority are going with the under on the total of 6. And with good reason: Ottawa comes in having gone 5-1-1 to the under in its previous seven games, no doubt a byproduct of the team’s suddenly anemic offence. The Islanders, meanwhile, have gone below the total in 10 of their previous 14 home games overall.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators have officially been relegated to spoilers – and they filled that role with emphasis last time out, upending the host Florida Panthers 3-2 to cash in on +233 odds. And bettors can expect plenty of huge potential profit opportunities the rest of the way, with the Senators’ remaining schedule featuring games against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs (x2), Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames, among others.

New York Islanders

Expect the Nassau Coliseum crowd to be rocking for Tuesday’s game against a Senators team that has lost four of the previous five head-to-head meetings. And it could be a long night for Ottawa shooters, with Vezina Trophy candidate Robin Lehner expected to be between the pipes for the Islanders. Lehner has been outright dominant in home games this season, sporting a 10-4-2 record with a 1.93 goals-against average, a .930 save percentage and two shutouts.
