Senators vs. Devils NHL Betting Odds

This is the first of three meetings between the Devils and Senators. Originally this game was supposed to be played on November 16, however, the team wasB shut down that day through November 20 due to COVID issues. These two teams will not meet again until April 2022.

The last time the Senators and Devils played was back on January 27, 2020, and the Devils won in the shootout. Despite the Senators’ recent string of games, history is not on their side. The Devils are 4-1 in their five games against Ottawa. Not only that, the Over was 7-2 in the last nine contests.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators are playing the first of back-to-back games. Things have not gone well for Ottawa this season, however, they are currently looking to extend their winning streak to three. Offensively the Sens are averaging just 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 16.9 percent of their power play opportunities. Josh Norris leads Ottawa with 10 goals and 17 points, while Drake Batherson leads the team in points with 18. Brady Tkachuk is not too far behind them with 16 points and tied with Batherson with seven goals. Defensively the Senators are not much better as they give up an average of 3.9 goals per game. That ranks dead last in the NHL.

New Jersey Devils

One of the league’s early-season surprises, the Devils have gone on a three-game losing streak to drop them further in the standings. The have  issues starting games; in four of the last five games, they have been outscored 11-6 in the first two periods. That has to improve if they want to start winning games again. This is a crucial week for New Jersey as they have several winnable games, beginning with the Senators.

The numbers show where the Devils struggle. They are averaging 2.91 goals per game, which ranks them at 17th in the NHL. Jesper Bratt leads the team with 19 points including points in 10 of his last 12 games. Right behind him is Andreas Johnsson with 18 points who leads the Devils with nine goals.
