The Ottawa Senators hope a trip to the desert will snap their cold streak to open the new NHL campaign. For that to happen the Sens will have to get the better of a Coyotes side that’s playing great hockey.

Senators vs. Coyotes Betting Analysis

Ottawa was one of the best Over bets in the league a season ago. The club’s surprising offensive output coupled with a deplorable defence was the perfect combination for Over bettors. The Over went 45-33-4 in the Sens’ 82 regular season games a year ago.

New season, new story. The Under has cashed in three straight Ottawa games and four of the squad’s six games overall. Sports Interaction lists the total at 6 goals for Saturday’s game against the Coyotes.

Arizona comes into the contest with wins in three of its last four games including a 5-2 victory against Nashville on Thursday night. Under bettors are loving the results for the Coyotes too. Arizona owns a 1-4-1 Over/Under record after its first six games.

The Coyotes won both matchups against the Sens last year and have come away winners in four straight meetings. The Under is 4-1 in the last five contests between these two sides.

Ottawa Senators

Ottawa was projected to be among the worst clubs in the NHL. It’s fair to say the team is proving the prognosticators wrong. The Senators have just three points from six games. That puts them on pace to finish with 41 points on the season. Yikes.

Thursday’s scoreboard suggests the Senators played the Vegas Golden Knights close in their 3-2 shootout loss. The truth is Ottawa got housed and was extremely lucky to be even with Vegas at the end of regulation.

The Golden Knights outshot Ottawa 54-39 and they didn’t seem troubled at all when the Sens had a man advantage. That’s been an ongoing story for Ottawa. The Senators have yet to score a power play goal this season. They’re 0-for-21 with a man advantage.

Arizona Coyotes

There’s no secret to Arizona’s success. The Coyotes excel preventing opponents from putting the puck in the net. They finished among the top six in goals against last season and they’re fighting for top spot this year.

Goalie Darcy Kuemper is a big part of the reason things are going so well for the Coyotes in their own end. The second-year starter owns a .949 save percentage in five appearances.
