The fans in Stockholm lucked out with this NHL Global Series between the Buffalo Sabres and the Tampa Bay Lightning. After Tampa claimed a 3-2 win in the first half of this set, the Sabres look to get out of Sweden with a split on Saturday.

Sabres vs. Lightning Betting Analysis

The Sabres were one of the hottest bets going in the show for a while and have forced the books to adjust the numbers you’ll see on their matchups a bit. At 9-4-1-1 they head into Saturday’s tilt just four points back of first place and they rank fifth on the NHL money standings. On the other hand, the Tampa Bay Lightning were the favourite to win the Stanley Cup to begin the year and they haven’t been nearly as good as advertised. The Lightning are in sixth place in the Atlantic and are just 4-9 for their puckline spread supporters.

Buffalo Sabres

Sam Reihart scored both of Buffalo’s goals on Friday and he’s off to a good start with seven tallies and 13 points. The Sabres failed to convert on a couple of power-play opportunities but they’re clicking at nearly a 26 percent clip on the year. The Sabres will look to get more pucks to the net today after being outshot 34-22 yesterday.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Nikita Kucherov hasn’t been lighting the lamp as often as he has the past couple of seasons, but he got the scoring started on Friday by converting a nice feed from Brayden Point. Kucherov has five goals and 12 points after winning the Art Ross and Hart trophies last year. Victor Hedman returned to the lineup after missing a couple of games with a lower-body and contributed a primary assist on Tampa Bay’s second goal. The Lightning opened the year as the favourites to win the Stanley Cup, but they have slipped to third on the futures board at +925, behind the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs.
