A six-game road trip for the Nashville Predators sees one of its toughest stops on Monday night as they head north to face the first-place Winnipeg Jets. It’s the second of the six road games for the Preds, which started in St. Louis on Friday night where Nashville fell 7-4. Winnipeg’s coming off a 4-2 win on Saturday against Ottawa, the Jets’ third straight victory.

This recent stretch of success for the Jets has them 26-10-1 on the season and leading the Central Division. Nashville’s climbed out of the bottom of the Western Conference, but an 11-18-7 record has them over 10 points back of the final playoff spot in the West. Both Nashville and Winnipeg are in back-to-back spots too, with the Preds headed to Minnesota on New Year’s Eve and the Jets headed to Colorado.

Puck drop at Canada Life Centre gets going at 7:30 p.m. EST, with the Jets a -165 moneyline favourite and the total at six on the NHL odds.

Predators vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds

Nashville’s three road wins this season are the fewest in the NHL. Meanwhile, Winnipeg has dropped only three games in regulation on home ice this season. Nashville’s lost eight of their last nine on the road, and Winnipeg’s riding a 4-1 run both in their last five home games and when hosting Nashville.

The under is 13-5 in Nashville’s 18 road contests this season, but they are coming off a 7-4 road defeat on Friday. Winnipeg hasn’t allowed more than three goals in a game in eight straight outings, and the Jets have been playing divisional opponents close as the under is 11-1 in their last 12 meetings with a Central Division team.

Nashville Predators

Juuse Saros’ level of play in net has declined this season, which is in part due to the Preds’ poor defending, but the star goalie hit a low point on Friday when he allowed five goals on 15 shots and got pulled halfway through the 7-4 loss. Saros .903 save percentage this season is the lowest in his nine NHL seasons. With Nashville on a back-to-back that starts in Winnipeg, the Preds will likely roll with Saros against the Jets, and then Justus Annunen the following night.

Nashville just acquired forward Ondřej Pavel from Colorado in a trade that sent Juuso Parssinen away. Pavel could join the Preds in Winnipeg and provide an offensive spark — crazier things have happened, and Nashville’s currently last in the NHL with 2.44 goals per game so it can’t get worse.

Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg’s top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Gabriel Vilardi came alive in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Ottawa, as this trio erased a 2-0 deficit by each scoring. Nikolaj Ehlers also found the back of the net, potting his 11th goal of the season. Ehlers only trails Connor, Scheifele, and Vilardi in scoring this season. Both Connor and Scheifele are tied with a team-high 22 goals each. The reason Winnipeg’s rose to the top of the NHL though is their depth. Eleven Jets have at least 15 points this season, and guys like Adam Lowry and Vladislav Namestnikov are on the verge of joining an already long list of double-digit Jets goal scorers.

Vezina Trophy favouirte (-450 odds) Connor Hellebuyck is now 23-5-1 this season. With Nashville’s league-worst offence rolling into town, look for the Jets to give Hellebuyck the night off against Nashville, start Eric Comrie, and then save Hellebuyck for New Year’s Eve in Colorado.
