It’s a Stanley Cup Final rematch on Monday in Edmonton as they Oilers face the Panthers for the first time since Florida took Game 7 of last year’s Cup Final. Edmonton rolled to a fifth straight win, 6-3 over Vegas on Saturday, while the Panthers’ Western Canadian road swing has resulted in a 4-0 loss to Vancouver and a 3-0 loss to Calgary.

The Oilers are slim -125 favourites to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 6.0.

Panthers vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

These teams obviously faced off in an epic Stanley Cup Final last year. It looked like the series would be a dud after Florida took a 3-0 lead, but Edmonton almost pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, falling one goal short in Game 7. It was the Panthers’ first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history and their third appearance in the Cup Final.

This should be a fairly close matchup as each team has nine wins both at home and on the road this year. The Oilers are the hotter team with wins in seven of their last eight home games, while Florida has dropped five of their last seven games against Western Conference teams.

Neither team has been a great cover option this year. The Panthers are 13-18 against the spread and Edmonton is 12-18 ATS. The edge might go to Florida in this game as the Oilers are just 5-11 ATS at home this season.

Florida Panthers

It’s been a weird stretch for the Panthers, who have been shut out in consecutive games and have now gone 146:01 without scoring. Sam Reinhart leads the team in both goals (19) and points (39), but he’s been held to a minus-2 rating over the last two games. Look for Matthew Tkachuk to come alive against Edmonton. Tkachuk, a well known rival in Edmonton thanks to his years with Calgary, is second on Florida with 30 points (10G, 20A) and he has 10 goals, 16 assists and a plus-12 rating in 32 career regular season games against the Oilers.

Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to start in net on Monday. Bobrovsky is looking to bounce back from a poor outing against Vancouver in which he allowed four goals on just 19 shots. For the season he is 13-6-1 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .892 save percentage.

Edmonton Oilers

Leon Draisaitl led the way for Edmonton on Saturday, recording a goal and two assists to give him a team-leading 45 points (22G, 23A) on the year. Draisaitl is tied with Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov for the league lead in goals. Teammate Connor McDavid has 41 points (14G, 27A) and both he and Draisaitl are top-10 in league scoring. Keep in mind, McDavid has multi-point performances in half of his career games against Florida, including two four-point games in last year’s Stanley Cup Final.

Stuart Skinner will start in net for the Oilers on Monday. Skinner (11-7-2, 2.82 GAA, .897 SV) has won has won five of his last six appearances and stopped 88 of 94 shots on a personal three-game win streak. In Games 4 to 7 in the Stanley Cup Final last year, Skinner went 3-1 with a 1.76 GAA and .935 SV.
