Roberto Luongo gave up three goals on 23 shots in Friday night’s loss to the Calgary Flames, but should be back between the pipes against his former team.

Two struggling teams will clash on Sunday as the Florida Panthers, who have lost five in a row, visit the Vancouver Canucks, who have dropped three straight. Oddly enough, though, it’s the Panthers that are favored to win this game.

Panthers vs Canucks Betting Analysis

Florida is in the midst of its own five-game slide, allowing four goals or more in each of those losses. They are just 9-13 when on the road with a total of 6 or more. They haven’t played well in Vancouver, though, as they have just three wins in their last 15 visits.

On the other side, Vancouver is 9-9-2 on home ice so far this season. Oddly enough, they are just 2-10 after a divisional game and just 5-7 in home games where the total is six or more.

Florida Panthers

The Panthers have mostly been alright scoring goals over the course of their losing streak as they’ve tallied three or more in four of their five losses. The problem is that they haven’t been able to keep the puck out of their own net, giving up four or more in each of those games. Roberto Luongo gave up three goals on 23 shots in Friday night’s loss to the Calgary Flames, but should be back between the pipes against his former team. Luongo is 8-10-1 with a 3.36 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage this season. That’s pretty lousy.

On offence, Aleksander Barkov, Mike Hoffman and Jonathan Huberdeau have all contributed at a high level without Vincent Trocheck in the lineup. Each of those players has 40 points or more this season. Meanwhile, Keith Yandle is on pace to set a new career-high in points on the back end. However, it’s still not enough to makeup for the fact that this team has giving up the third-most goals this month (4.00). They’ll need to keep this low-scoring somehow.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks have struggled without rookie Elias Pettersson. They’ve been shut out in three of their last five games and five times in the last month. They need to find a way to produce without him in the lineup and that means players like Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser and others need to really step up. Only four teams are averaging less than the 1.75 goals per game they’ve posted this month.

Meanwhile, Jacob Markstrom will need to stand tall until Vancouver figures things out up front. The problem is that he has allowed a combined nine goals in back-to-back losses to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Arizona Coyotes. It is worth noting that the Canucks score 3.05 goals per game at home, which is better than the 2.65 they average on the road. That might be enough for them to eke out a win on Sunday.
