Edmonton’s five matches in front its fanbase started at an alarming 0-3, but the club righted the ship with wins in their last two, capping it off with a 3-2 OT effort over the Blues on Wednesday. Seattle has spent the week at home and given its supporters reasons to cheer with wins over the Bruins and Penguins.

The NHL odds favour the visiting Oilers in this one. The latter are priced at -150 on the moneyline.

Oilers vs. Kraken NHL Betting Odds

The only time the Kraken defeated the Oilers on home ice during their youthful existence was in the franchise’s inaugural campaign in December 2021. For that matter, that marked only one of the club’s two successes against the Oilers, the second coming last January. Saturday is the fourth time the sides clash during the 2023-2024, with the Albertan ensemble aiming for a season sweep.

The Oilers are about as healthy as a club can be at this critical juncture of the campaign. That might be what made the mediocre results of their home stand surprising. That said, Edmonton is not afraid to take its talents on the road, what with a solid 16-12 tally during their travels. They only covered the spread in one of those five home games, worsening their overall ATS record to 28-29. Opponents have kept the Oilers offence somewhat in check as well, with the under going 3-1 in their last four.

Saturday’s contest concludes a six-game home stand for the Kraken. Seattle has already taken three games, with big wins over the Canucks and Bruins being the highlights. The only significant injury in their camp is LW Andre Burakovsky, currently listed as day-to-day. Seattle presents a clash of styles against Edmonton. The Kraken don’t score many goals (2.75 per game, 28th) but they don’t cough up many either (2.80 per match, 9thbest).

Edmonton Oilers

Wednesday’s match at home to the St. Louis Blues almost got away from the Oilers. One could argue they should have known better seeing as the Blues squashed them 6-3 shortly before.

Whatever the reason, the visitors raced out to a 2-0 first-period lead courtesy of fortunate bounces and heads-up plays. Luckily Zach Hyman’s brilliant scoring touch continued, which helped the hosts climb back into the game. He netted his 39th late in the opening period, yet another goal in the slot. Hyman was the main man in the second period as well, earning his 40th to level the terms 2-2, with Connor McDavid acting as helper on both occasions. The third period solved nothing, but McDavid played hero in the extra session with a fine wrist shot from the right side that St. Louis’ netminder got a piece of, just not enough. Oilers win a heart-stopper, 3-2.

G Stuart Skinner deserves a lot of credit for bouncing back the way he has. He’s been excellent since the Oilers turned their season around – 27-13 with a 2.68 GAA and .904 SV.

Seattle Kraken

After earning a surprising season sweep of the Boston Bruins earlier in the week, the Seattle Kraken welcomed Sidney Crosby and the Penguins on Thursday.

It played out in typical Kraken fashion when things go their way. Goals come at a premium with this side, although it’s not for a lack of trying or a lack of decent skaters on the roster. Pittsburgh largely had control of the first period, that is, until they didn’t. Oliver Bjorkstrand (15th) was awarded a goal at 12:25 after a shot from the line took bounces and deflections and trickled into the net. The only other goal scorer on the night would be Alex Wennberg (ninth) who made it 2-0 in the third period through hard work on the power play. Credit to Philipp Grubauer who played an excellent game, keeping the Penguins’ snipers at bay all night long with a 33-save shutout win.
