Oilers vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds

It’s certainly not out of the question this is a 2025 Stanley Cup Finals preview. Edmonton is of course the defending Western Conference champion and the +280 favourite to repeat. Boston probably isn’t good enough as currently constructed to win the East and is +1600 to do so, but we can’t rule out the B’s making a big addition via trade.

Back in November, the team fired highly successful head coach Jim Montgomery and replaced him on an interim basis with associate coach Joe Sacco, a one-time Maple Leafs player who was selected No. 71 overall by them in the 1987 NHL Draft. Edmonton knows all about an in-season coaching change spurring a team to success as it happened for the Oilers last season. The Bruins have been better overall under Sacco with a 12-8-2 mark but are in a funk right now.

This concludes the regular-season series as Boston lost 3-2 in overtime in Edmonton on Dec. 19 – blowing a 2-0 second-period lead. Connor McDavid scored the game-tying goal at 17:39 of the third, and Mattias Ekholm won it at 1:04 of OT. Stuart Skinner was in net for Edmonton and Jeremy Swayman was for Boston. The Oilers are 6-4 in the past 10 meetings, and the over-under is 2-8.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers started a four-game road trip with a third straight win Saturday, 4-2 in Seattle. Leon Draisaitl was the No. 1 star with a goal and assist and extended his points streak to a career-high-tying 14 games in a row. Draisaitl also became the fifth player in Oilers history to record 10 consecutive 30-assist seasons with Mark Messier (11), Connor McDavid (10), Glenn Anderson (10) and Jari Kurri (10). Draisaitl is now one goal from being the first in the NHL this season to 30. Vasily Podkolzin (fourth of season and ending a 14-game drought), Jeff Skinner (seventh) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (10th) had the other goals. Edmonton went 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and is at a league-best 90.4 per cent since Nov. 12. Calvin Pickard was in net Saturday, which likely means Stuart Skinner here. The 26-year-old is 15-8-3 with a 2.78 GAA and .898 SV. Edmonton is 6-1 in its past seven vs. the Eastern Conference.

Boston Bruins

Boston got an immediate new coach bump, but that has worn off as it enters on a four-game losing streak following a 5-4 OT home upset defeat to the Islanders on Sunday. The B’s had rallied from down 3-1 and 4-2 to force OT but lost on Bo Horvat’s goal 3:10 in. David Pastrnak had two goals in a losing effort and leads the club with 17 goals and 42 points. Pastrnak, who also scored twice against the Maple Leafs on Saturday, became the fourth player in Bruins history to score two-plus goals on back-to-back days on multiple occasions in his career. Boston remains without top blueliner Hampus Lindholm, who is on injured reserve. Joonas Korpisalo was in net Saturday, but it should be Jeremy Swayman here. He’s 13-13-3 with a 2.91 GAA and .891 SV overall. The 26-year-old has been better at home with a 2.43 GAA.
