Anyone for a Leafs-Flames Stanley Cup Finals? Of course, that has never happened. It’s possible this June, with Calgary a Sports Interaction favourite in the Western Conference and potentially on track to finish as the West’s top seed. Getting out of the East will be far tougher for Toronto simply because Tampa Bay is a runaway train threatening to break the NHL single-season record for points. Oh, and there’s the excellent Boston Bruins and defending Cup champion Washington Capitals to name two others.

Maple Leafs vs Flames Betting Analysis

Calgary looks for its first sweep of the regular-season series since 2010-11. That’s because the Flames won 3-1 in Toronto on Oct. 29. All four goals came in the third period. Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm gave the Flames a 2-0 lead in a 55-second span, while Nazem Kadri cut it in half at 16:07. Michael Frolik added an empty-netter with six seconds remaining. Mike Smith made 24 saves, while Frederik Andersen stopped 31. The Leafs were without Auston Matthews, and William Nylander hadn’t yet made his season debut.

The Leafs are 2-10 in their past 12 in Calgary. The total has gone under in the past five meetings overall.

Toronto Maple Leafs

This starts a three-game trip for the Leafs, who are off a 5-2 win over Buffalo on Saturday. John Tavares and Mitch Marner each had a goal and two assists. It was Tavares’ 27th five-on-five goal of the season, leading the league and a single-season career high. Nic Petan’s first goal as a member of the Leafs at 15:02 of the second was the winner. He was acquired from Winnipeg for Par Lindholm and hadn’t played since Dec. 22.

Andersen stopped 35 shots to improve to 31-13-3 with a 2.58 goals-against-average and a .923 save percentage. Toronto remains without Kadri due to a concussion but he’s progressing. The Leafs have won eight of their past 11 Monday games.

Calgary Flames

Calgary had a seven-game winning streak snapped in a 4-2 home loss to Minnesota on Saturday, a night the team retired the jersey of Jarome Iginla. One bright spot was Monahan scoring his 30th goal of the season, ending an eight-game goal drought. Travis Hamonic had the other goal, his sixth of the year. Smith allowed all four goals on 23 shots, ending a personal five-game winning streak.

Winger Garnet Hathaway was tossed from the game on a match penalty after a hit on the Wild’s Luke Kunin which could lead to a suspension. The Flames are 5-0 in their past five Monday games and have won five straight vs. Eastern Conference clubs.
