It's a battle between two teams looking to get back into the win column as the Seattle Kraken visit the Dallas Stars for the first time in franchise history.
Both teams enter the game after blowing third-period leads that turned into massive regulation losses in the previous outings. This game is especially important for the Stars, who desperately need wins moving forward if they want to make the playoffs.

This is the first meeting of the season between these two clubs on a quiet night in the NHL. The Kraken are one of the worst teams in just their first season in the league. Seattle sits at the bottom of the Pacific Division with a horrible record of 3-14 against Western Conference teams, including a six-game losing streak. Things won’t get any easier Wednesday night as they head into Dallas.
Over the last 17 games, the Stars are 13-3-1 on home ice, as they currently ride a four-game home winning streak. To make matters worse the Stars are 9-1 in their last 10 games as the favourite. All the numbers point to the Stars taking home the victory tonight.
Seattle Kraken
This will be a season to forget for the Seattle Kraken. Nobody expected them to be like Vegas, but they should be better than they currently are. Did analytics play a factor in why the team is so bad? Most likely as there were so many big names the Kraken could have had in the expansion draft. Instead, they went with a subpar roster and are getting subpar results. It is time to face facts and that is Dave Hakstol is not a good coach in the NHL.
Outside of Jared McCann, Brandon Tanev, and Jordan Eberle, who have combined for 35 goals and 24 assists, the offence has been non-existent. Seattle is averaging 2.79 goals per game and giving up 3.68 goals per game. That is not a winning recipe. It does not help that goaltender Philipp Grubauer has a 3.34 goals-against average and a .882 save percentage.
Dallas Stars
The Stars are playing much better than they did at the beginning of the season. After Rick Bowness had his tirade calling out his top players, the Stars started racing up the standings. Joe Pavelski and Jason Robertson are tied for the team lead with 30 points. Pavelski is tied with the team lead in goals with 13 alongside Roope Hintz. The Stars are averaging 2.81 goals per game.
While the offence is starting to produce, the defence has been excellent allowing 2.91 goals per game. To go along with two great defensive pairings having Jake Oettinger and Braden Holtby playing stellar has helped the Stars climb back into the playoff race.
