Edmonton’s won three straight games, allowing a single goal in each win. Winnipeg’s concluding a three-game road trip that’s gotten off to a lousy start, clawing out an overtime win at Seattle on Sunday and dropping a 6-2 contest to Vancouver on Tuesday.

At 47-18-4, the Jets still enter Thursday tied for the NHL lead with 98 points. A win over Edmonton would give Winnipeg a double-digit lead in points in the Central Division which is all-important given they potential playoff matchups in the division. Edmonton’s three points up on L.A. for second in the Pacific Division, but also a win back of tying Vegas for first. With around a dozen games left to go in each team’s schedule, every two points become crucial.

Puck drop at Rogers Place goes at 9 p.m. EDT with the Oilers coming in as a -125 moneyline favourite and the over-under at six on the NHL odds.

Jets vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

The Oilers have tightened up defensively over a three-game win streak, allowing three goals total over that span. Edmonton’s yet to allow over three goals in any of their last five outings, which is directly why the under is 4-1 in their last five games. Only 14 of Edmonton’s 34 home contests this season have finished over the total.

Edmonton comes in having won 12 of their last 13 meetings with a Central Division opponent. That streak will get put to the test against the Jets, who won a season-opening meeting with the Oilers 6-0. Thursday’s the second of three regular season bouts between Winnipeg and Edmonton. Each club has five victories over their last 10 meetings.

Winnipeg Jets

If anyone’s allowed to have one off-night this season, it’s Connor Hellebuyck. The Vezina favourite is now 39-10-3 with a .924 save percentage this season but had a rough night on Tuesday with 16 saves on 21 shots. Tuesday was just the 16th time this season the Jets have allowed three or more goals. Hellebuyck should get the nod at Edmonton.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored in Tuesday’s loss and is now at 58 points on the season, five shy of his career high set back in 2017–18. Tuesday was just the second time this month both Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele were held off the scoresheet for Winnipeg. This linemate duo leads Winnipeg with 71 goals combined, Connor leading the way with 36 and Scheifele 35.

Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton’s depth pieces are starting to catch fire, which is a scary sight for the rest of the NHL. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman led the way in Tuesday’s 7-1 with three-point games. It was Hyman’s second multi-goal game this month and he’s now up to 24 goals on the season. Hyman also registered a game-high eight shots, two more than Leon Draisaitl who was held off the scoresheet entirely despite the seven Oilers goals.

Defenceman Mattias Ekholm returned from a lower-body injury and had a three-point night. Connor McDavid also collected a trio of points and is up to 89 on the year. McDavid’s reached at least 100 points in four straight seasons and is well on his way to five. Another milestone to look out for is Draisaitl’s 50th goal this season — the NHL goals leader is one away from doing so.
