Jets forward Mark Scheifele was named the NHL’s first star of the week on Monday. It’s the second consecutive week that a Jets player claimed the first star spot. The Jets conclude their three game road trip in Brooklyn Tuesday night.

Jets vs Islanders Betting Analysis

This is the first match-up of the season between these two teams, last year they split the two-game set each winning on home ice. In the last 10 games played dating back to November of 2013, the Islanders have the edge with a 6-4 record.

Digging deeper into the numbers; the Jets are 2-5 in their last seven meetings versus the Islanders, but the road team in this series is 8-3 in the last 11 games.

The Islanders are 0-3 against the Central division this season, and 0-6 in their last six games dating back to last year. Head-to-head, the over is 6-1-1 in the last eight games.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets will wrap up their short New York/New Jersey road trip Tuesday night in Brooklyn looking for the three game sweep of the Metropolitan division.

On Saturday, the team knocked off the Devils in overtime, and then the following night stormed back with three unanswered goals in the third period against the Rangers and won it in a shootout. In both games Mark Scheifele got credit for the game-winning goals. He’s been very impressive and currently on a five-game point scoring streak, with five goals and four assists. His right-winger Blake Wheeler made history Sunday night against the Rangers, as he was the first American-born player in NHL history with 30 assists in the first 26 team games. Wheeler leads the Jets in scoring with four goals and 30 assists.

New York Islanders

The Islanders have been off since their 3-2 win Saturday night against the Blue Jackets. it was a great effort for the club, as they erased a two-goal deficit to score three unanswered in the victory. The Islanders have had a good start to the season, currently four games over the .500 mark, but struggled with consistency as of late, as they are 3-4 in their last seven.

Home ice has been good for the club, with a 7-3-2 record, but getting the most scoring opportunities has been a weakness for this team. The Isles are 29th in the NHL in shots on goal, averaging 28.2 per game, and some of their key players have not found their touch around the net. Last year’s Calder Trophy winner Matthew Barzal has only three goals in 25 games, same goes for Jordan Eberle with only six goals over that time. Barzal scored three goals against the Jets last season (two games). The Islanders did not have a player in the line-up that has hit double-digit totals in goals. Anders Lee and Brock Nelson both have nine on the season.

Goaltender Thomas Griess is expected to get the start against the Jets. This would be his 15th start of the season. He has won three out of his last four starts. Last season he did not see action against the Jets in the two games played.
